It would be nice, if they manage to get the Support role abilities done well, so see some of the healer classes get these abilities as well rather then pure DPS abilities for our healing “downtime”.
Shaman totems and Druid “Over time” abilities seem like the perfect opportunity to steer some of us healing classes towards that “support” abilities role.
I wouldn’t be surprised if Aug is received well they might rework Disc to be more supportive in nature. It already gets reworked every expansion and is either hot garbage or it is omega broken in raid with very few times of it being in between.
Disc has it’s niche… DPS Healing… but since it does have Power Infusion and Power Word Shield, which is pretty much put it into that “support” role already. I can see them maybe reclassifying Disc to Support.
I wouldn’t call something shared amongst half the healers a “niche” and MW and HPal both dps to heal.
Disc’s main niche has been being a Barrier Healer which is never going to be possible to balance and why they have gutted PW:S and Shell multiple times over the expansions. It turns out preventing all the damage is way better than healing it.

Disc priest and Enhancement shaman definitely make sense as additional specs to move into the support role. Will be interesting to see how it works out with the Evoker and if they decide to move forward with either making new support specs or revamping current specs into the support role.

In game design anything is possible, since the game designers control the rules.
If it’s fun, they can make it work.
They have specs that let you do that. For Disc its an absolute requirement or nobody gets healing.
It would be good if each healing class had an augmentation but i don’t think they’ll do it to be honest.
It will depends on the test with Augvoker. I feel like thats the only reason why they are doing the spec to begin with, to test the waters.
Well,it would be different for sure .What type would be good for a shaman?
Not a fan of it myself, mostly since if your team mates die its sorta useless no matter how good you are. The ability to do the dps yourself is so much more appealing especially when they random people around you are well… random.

I despise DPS, which is why I rolled Healer.
That said, what difference does it make if I do direct damage or buff someone else to do damage?
No difference, but if the person buffing others damage is the last “dps” alive, get ready for a looong fight
Depends on the balancing. If you are forced into casting that instead of direct damage you will lose out on group dps if there are few people alive. So its only good if your team is good.
If it ended up doing less damage then normal damage then it would be nice. Sorta like mercy in overwatch. She can do 200 potential dps or 30% damage boost to others.
you have bigger problems if your healer is the last man alive that can do damage.

I have seen it happen tank/heals last people alive especially in lfr.
I rather like having direct damage because of it. The support specs will only be really good probably in content everyone live in. So higher end players generally probably worth it the most. Outside of that I’td be best for your own source of damage imo. Especially those moments people have to afk or something real quick. On demand damage is just more independent which I like.
More against this idea with my first post. Don’t like enhancement in pvp because its very team reliant pvp talents. The balancing making them team dependent is abit annoying, encourages zerging and I don’t find pvp fun like that for example. Especially when dueling/wpvping you aren’t always with a buddy.
They did that in vanilla. They were still healers at the end of the day.
I like this approach better.
no, what i suggest is making one of the dps specs for all pure dps classes to behave exactly like that, they deserve to have those support powers.
I brought this up here: Augmentation Evoker spec is a mistake
And I agree. Give healers all kinds of PI type functions. Allow them to augment the rest of the party in more pronounced ways. It will make the role more satisfying imo.

I just hope they don’t give Augment our totems. They gave it our Earth Shield. And our HeroLust.
Sadly Ion implied that more would come in as new classes and that they dont want to ruin other classes with reworks.
That could change but it might be better to speculate new specs and classes.
