Aug is proof Bard would've worked

a melee bard plays a song and then slams their Axe into enemies.

playing cords is like the evoker empowerment and then releasing it is swinging the empowered Axe.

I could see it working as a Rogue support spec.

Rogue and Bard has traditionally had a lot of crossover in fantasy anyways, so it would probably make more sense than trying to come up with 2-3 specs for it.

And could be added as patch content instead of requiring it to be the focus feature of an expansion.

Rogue is gonna get reworked too (some day maybe). It would be a chance for them to give rogue a solid reason to be brought to raid.

If they were introduced to metal everyone would love them.

I still think one of their specs should be re-done as a ranged Dark Ranger type theme.

But rogues are my least favorite class so I probably shouldn’t be consulted on that lol

Orc Grunt: “I’m gonna shred some heads with my axe!”

ETC: “Me too!”

This is the only way I can picture a bard fighting.

God that movie was so good. We didn’t deserve that.

Yes, and it spawned the best gif usable in these forums. You know which one right?

When the bard enters combat…

What if I play oops I did it again over and over for 30 minutes during a key?

It still can happen. Blizz has said if the reception to Aug is good they might add more support classes.

I still hope!

If a WoW Bard is anything but this, it will be a disappointment.

It did get reworked during Legion and now has 3 specializations rather than 2 and a weird thing that made no sense

… right, I like my rogue I’m maining right now but I’m just gonna let you in on a secret … Rogues don’t need MORE reasons to be brought to a raid

Bards ain’t gonna be a thing, especially not a rogue class
Hilariously, it could be a demon hunter one because that one actually promote some creative thinking and would add a third class to Demon Hunters

Compare these two ideas:
“Lute that I use to hit over the head of my enemies”, because that’s the ‘rogue’/traditional bard-style that would be implemented into WoW (aka. a transmoggable lute)
“I call upon my demonic energies to lull my friends and tempt them with power, and my enemies will face the dissonence of the twisting nether”

Can you make a bard “class” work in WoW? Nope, but you can add a lute that we can use to hit each others over the head with, preferably with a cartoonish “destroyed instrument” effect as well
Can you make something akin to a bard specialization in WoW? Sure, but then you’d actually need to be creative and say more than “BAAAAAAAAAAAAAAARD! PLSSSSSS” to get anyone actually interested in putting development time to the idea

Heck, let’s say that “tinkers” actually become a class - I doubt it but let’s say it for a moment
Why not mechanical sounds and gizmos? Why not the idea of their class resource is “electric charge” or the like and you can have a “musical” healer where larger uses of electric charge is used to power up some kind of musical … trombone? A “tinkerish gizmo” that just happens to be a trombone that plays sounds

I mean whacking things with an instrument is more of a meme.

In D&D bards use weapons and can be built pretty similar to rogues in a lot of ways.

The instrument thing is the only way it would be added to WoW though, because if you are adding a “bard” to the game it would literally just be a rogue seeing a lute and hitting someone over the head with it
Because we don’t have a musical class in the game, and rogues aren’t really bards either - they are more like specific rogueish archetypes if one wants to make comparisons to D&D and bards are literally per definition a jack’of’all trades

They are similar to mages, to priests, to rogues, to druids, to fighters/warriors, hunters, all of 'em

So… I kinda have to disagree with ya’

Edit: My larger point still remains though; one can add this archetype to WoW, but just screaming “BAAAAARDS!” and leaving it at that … well, at that point its so empty and devoid of any real intent except folks saying “I like the idea of something from another game being in WoW, so can you please just take the thing from that game and put it into WoW with no thought”
One can add it to the game, but one has to do more with the idea than saying “Replace X with it” or “Just add a new class whose name is the same thing as I want, with no thought as to what their role or purpose would be”

WILL work.

Proof? They haven’t even made Aug work yet.
