Audio Issues - Can't hear others sounds effects

Currently on a Intel CPU and 4070Ti, but had the same issue on an AMD CPU with a 2070 Super.

Wow, okay maybe it’s the Windows update we’re using?? I’m using Windows 11, more and more however, it really does seem like it’s Blizzard’s fault. So sad :((((((

Just so everyone knows, I did report this bug to Blizzard, but I HIGHLY encourage everyone to send a thorough bug report regarding this issue to them so we have the highest chance of resolving this issue. I love you all and I’m sorry you’re dealing with this issue as well!

Yeah I made a bug report about 6 months ago for this, and also even talked, on the phone, with a customer support who then told me that she was logging an additional report on their internal bug ticketing system.

Can’t believe this isn’t fixed.

That is absolutely ridiculous, maybe Blizzard needs a complete sweep on management who disregard bug issues as something to put far away on the back burner.

UPDATE –

I even reformatted my computer per suggestion from CS.
It did nothing other than waste about 6 hours of my time and thousands of gb of data. However, upon playing I found that a lot of settings did not reset. I had no combat text for example, and my keybindings were the same, and a lot of other things. So whatever is causing the sound to not play from other players in instances is somewhere in those settings. (I even manually deleted the entire WoW directory and all of battlenet directly from the drive before I reformatted)…

Has a dev or or someone ever responded to this issue on this thread or another?

I’ve been having this issue for weeks now.

Nope.

Been this way about 6 months or more. Pretty much since dragonflight prepatch.

I see you’re using a drawing tablet, which can sometimes interfere with the game. Try removing that. I also see several errors from the nVidia driver, which may be controlling your audio or disabling it.

I haven’t used a drawing tablet in years, I completely wiped both my drives and reinstalled windows. Where is it that you see signs of a drawing tablet?

Updated the dxdiag and msconfigs

This may have already been said, but did y’all try specifically selecting the audio output device in the wow audio settings drop down, instead of leaving it on Default?

Yes I have, thank you though.

Skimmed over things. Not 100% sure this is related to your issue, but it’s worth looking into.
A little over a year ago I came back after a break and had issues with spatial sound settings in Windows. If you’re on either Win10/11, then you might want to at least look this over:

Stop surround sound for Stereo - Support / Technical Support - World of Warcraft Forums (blizzard.com)

Nope, still cannot hear other people cast spells in instances :(.

I spotted it in the DxDiag,
Device Name: HUION HID

Ahh that must be from the old DX Diag, I have since uploaded a new one. Thanks. I have not installed anything like that on this computer, it’s entirely new as of about… a week ago or so?

@ Lilus-archimonde

Thank you but that was not the issue :frowning:

im experiencing a surround sound but im not having a surround activated… wtf
