I listed a pattern on the Auction House for 450g and it sold. When I go to retrieve the gold from the mailbox, the amount was only 102g. WTF?!
I thought I noticed something like this before, but wasn’t sure. Now I know this isn’t the first time.
Anyone else having this issue?
You put the bid at a lower price. Play stupid games win stupid prizes.
You put a low bid with high buyout. They bid on it and won without buying out.
think about it for a second
Did you just really want to use this phrase or something? He made a mistake, he wasn’t “playing a stupid game”. Lmao.
To be fair for some sellers that would be a fair statement. I’ve seen a couple lately in trade that seem to think buyout is all that matters. I watched one rant for almost 20 min about getting ripped off because “only sold for 20g when it was listed for 1k”.
Big reason I tell everyone to properly set up AH addons before your first use. If the bid is set to like 5x vendor and you just post away you may be leaving A LOT on the table when they sell.
FYI, Rezlack is a Troll. Ignore it please.
Thank me later.
Okay…pay attention…I said I put it on the AH for 450g. It sold for 450g. I remember seeing the message in my chat window that said '… Sold for 450g". I actually put it up for 440g starting bid and Buy Out for 450g. Apparently TSM doesn’t keep track of it anywhere. Either that or I can’t find that feature in the addon.
Eh, probably not. That’s just not a thing. Maybe something else you sold showed up before the 450g.
Nope. It was a Nightseye pattern. Everything else was Potions. I need to get Elephant addon if it’s for TBC. lol Records everything in chat
The odds of you creating a unique ID in a database by auctioning an item, and that unique ID getting assigned a gold value by a buyer getting somehow swapped with someone else’s gold value are zero.
Either someone won with a bid, or your addon that you saw in chat pulled data incorrectly… or you just read it wrong.
You sound like the person that used to call me at the IT help desk years ago that swore they were entering their password correctly the whole time and it just wasn’t letting them log in
You work in IT, says chance of something happening is 0…HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA
It just flat out didn’t happen the way you’re suggesting it happened is what I’m saying
You could open a ticket and prove us all wrong though. They surely have data of the transaction
Receiving the incorrect amount of gold is just extremely odd. Not receiving any gold would make a lot more sense. Not receiving an item you bought would also make more sense. These would be indicative of a database not sending out a request or receiving a request. Getting the wrong amount of gold would be like… I don’t know I really can’t think of how that could happen…
Either way, it’s certainly something they could fix and see happen if you brought it to their attention… and I love being proven wrong, because I learn a lot that way….
So come on back when ya do!
TLDR; someone disagrees with me so theyre a troll.
I mean with the amount of people who undercut with super low bids I can absolutely see this happening. In fact I have seen people complaining about the same thing OP is complaining about. They just weren’t so stubborn to claim the game itself is out to get them specifically.
Yea this was a huge thing in shadowlands launch, where mostly everyone was using an auction house addon / the auction house listing price I believe would follow the lowest priced item and people would just insta list their stuff and not look… because, until people exploited it, listing in that fashion worked perfectly fine
People would list an item for a fraction of the buyout, and consequently, players would list an item for 1,000g… but the item was worth 10,000 gold because it was an epic enchanting material super early into the game… and it would just get sniped instantly
Kind of in the same sense, people list enchanting mats and the default bid on them is 1c… then they set the buyout and forget to set the bid and walk away… and I’ve bought like 100 void crystals this way already.
Or, evil people list things for 900g and others accidentally buy them.
It’s okay! It happens to all of us! I’ve listed a very expensive mount for 2 digits less than it was worth and it was instantly sniped. I messaged the guy and said, “wow ya got me
“ … you don’t have to make excuses… we all probably have a story like that
When did the AH sales start giving you the sale value in the “Your auction of xxxxx item has sold” message?
Never this dudes either high or talking about some addon that is unreliable and doesent want to admit he made a mistake lmao
Addons such as TSM do this. It’ll tell you in chat as a console output that
X item has sold of quantity Y for price Z
But I’m sure it could get bugged out pulling data, or also just reading incorrectly. If the mailbox with the gold there didn’t match up that’d be another thing
It’s not a mistake. By default auctions are listed by bid price, not buyout price. So making it low bid puts you at the top of the list when you sort by price. There’s was a guy on my old server who’d post like a single peacebloom 1c bid, 914g buyout. Idk why 914 lol, but some people must’ve bought on accident.
