Auction House speed making the game unplayable

The current version of the Auction House is so so so bad. It has all the quirks of the classic auction house without the working addons that made it bearable. If you’re going to break the addons then just give us the retail auction house. If you refuse to give us the retail AH then figure your sh*t out and allow the addons to work (at a functional speed) again.

A big part of my enjoyment of the game comes from making gold via professions and the AH and it’s literally unplayable at the moment.

You don’t enjoy spending 30min+ to post a single inventory worth of goods?

AWW POOR BABY!.

stop… just stop.

I have an entire bank alt with 16 slot bags full of items I can’t be bothered to sell because of how badly they broke AH addons. I’d probably have to dedicate an entire hours-long play session to list those auctions with how slow addons are now. Even using the default UI it would probably take an hour or two with significant manual effort to list them. Before these changes I could probably post everything in 15-20 minutes. At least the pages of 1c minimum bid 700g buyout auctions load just fine…

wake up honey, somebody misused the word “unplayable” again on the wow forums

I mean I have to agree that the Auction House is hot garbage now. I’m not even a power user or whatever we’re calling the people that use the addons to buy and sell constantly, I use it because the base Blizzard Auction House is terrible. The AH is filled with people selling stuff for 2c bid and 2000g buyout and people post 50 stacks of 1 herb instead of a full stack. It is horrible to try to search through to find stuff and you can’t search by Buyout price or price per item. Which stack is the best value? Is the one with the lowest bid also the one with the lowest buyout? I don’t know because the WoW UI is terrible and filled with spam essentially.

And now it’s basically impossible to use an addon just to give me a better UI. That’s literally all I want but Blizzard broke the addons because a few people abused something. Which, I get it, but you made it awful for the rest of us in the process.

So ya, I’d like to see some AH quality of life improvements because the AH is truly horrible right now.

Theres 2 options for a fix.

Break all AH Addons

Implement retail AH.

Take your pick, or suffer.

Part of the issue is it’s not just the addons. Back in BfA when we had the exact same issues Blizzard confirmed the main factors where 2 fold. The 1st being the addons lagging the system and the second being so many people posting 1 stack of 1 trade goods like linen cloth.

The entire overhaul we got in 8.3 solved all of these issues and lag is hardly a thing in retail on the largest severs.

For the classic AH to stop lagging you would need to stop people from posting single linen cloths and ban all AH addons and even then it would still be lagging because its using the classic model and not the (I believe WoD updates, whichever AH we had prior to the BfA revamp).

The only solution is to bring the retail AH in (and removing its new cross server trade goods ability for Classic).

I understand that, but the addons (and the AH) worked until Blizzard intentionally broke them with the Wrath Pre-Patch. Or so I’ve been told and so it seems because that is the point in time in which they stopped functioning at any sort of reasonable speed. In this case the players’ issue is with the addons.

They broke addons to fix the issues caused by them (and player behavior) but didn’t implement any sort of fix. The “fix” helped the Blizzard side of things but made life worse on the player side of things. Which isn’t much of a fix.

I’d love to see an improved UI, retail AH or something new, just something with a better UI and more functionality (sort by Buyout because we all know people abuse the sort by Bid system), stuff like that.

But to simply say “well we fixed OUR issue, you guys figure it out now” is frankly ridiculous.

Even before pre-patch the AH was very laggy.

And I don’t think it’s just the addons but also single stacks of items as we have past evidence in retail that was the case. If someone puts up 1 single stack of Linen Cloth 2000 times it’s going to hinder the AH speed if you are not using an AH addon (i’ve deleted mine and its still slow AF).

Which is why we desperately need the retail AH. The Retail AH was designed to defeat the problem we are currently having in Classic.

I think we’re slightly talking about different things but like I said, I’m sure that players doing crap like that is part of the issue, 100%, but the addons still worked up until recently. Namely I use them BECAUSE players do that, and because players post 1 cloth for 2c bid and 3000g buyout and if you use the standard WoW UI, those are the first results.

I need a better UI and frankly, an easier/faster way to buy & sell items the basic UI is awful. I’m aware of the irony that is me using addons to fix issues caused by people using the same addons but it’s the only solution I as a player have.

And I don’t think it’s as much of an AH lag problem as you say it is, the base UI works without any lag for me but the second I switch to the Addon UI everything grinds to a halt. It is primarily with the addons more than the AH itself.

Searching for Linen Cloth gave me 428 results in under 1 second with the WoW UI, the exact same search with an addon has taken well over 30 second as I sit here. Maybe there is some general AH lag but there is very clearly a ton of lag with using addons. This was one search too, I’m not refreshing every 5 seconds to snipe items. Basic functionally simply does not work anymore.

I don’t care if it’s the Retail AH or a new improved UI but Blizzard can’t simply make something worse and then offer no solution to players. As much as bots/players buying and selling stuff with addons constantly was awful, I would rather have that than whatever it is we have right now. This is much more directly impacting my experience playing the game.

AH had some bad days here or there prior to prepatch, but not sure what anyone is smoking if they think it came ANYWHERE as close to as bad as it is now with the throttle they implemented.
