Just limit it, if they can. Only the cancel operation.
I will un sub all of my accounts if this change stays. One should at least be able to post everything in their bags without a throttle. If this stats only high ticket items will be posted and you’ll see prices fly up
Go back to a FIFO system. That fixes most the issues. That change was stupid on its surface. Why should I be penalized for listing before you if we list at the same price.
We can agree on that!
The current hotfix ruins it for me even more because now I need to spend more time just to make my initial post on all my professions. I spent the last month and around 100k gold to bring up my professions to max just to be able to enter the markets.
My solution: Limit or break Cancel scanning across the entire account or linked bnet emails account family.
The throttle limit is what? 1/5 of the size of current max bags. Who thought that was a good idea?
I think it’s a good change. It won’t affect 99% of players.
If the throttle limit was right, sure, but it’s currently so low it’s affecting a lot more than just 1%
There’s just no need for anyone to post thousands of something and cancel it over and over all day long.
It’s one thing if you do an oops post. Once you post you should have to live with it.
The problem isn’t cancel scan – it’s blizzard implementing LIFO. The market will fundamentally not work if you implement LIFO and ban cancel scans. If you think you can’t make money now, wait until everyone is undercutting multiples of the same item.
Heh honestly I know very little about how the technology works. So for me, it’s very much just an assumption that this is what’s causing every AH action to be so slow. But the timing is pretty suspect. There’s probably someone that knows a ton more about servers and such things and how they work that’s laughing at me right now because they know it’s all wrong, but the coincidence makes me go “Hmm.”
My wife’s entire reason for continuing the game is to unload the vast auctions shes collected, crafted, and traded for in the last 10 years of the game. The new auction house was a god send because her auction that used to take 10 hours a day (before tsm), and then 6 hours a day (after tsm) took 2 hours. She could finally play the game again after amassing wealth via farming and crafting. Now she’s being punished for playing the game the way she was allowed to and it will most likely mean either taking the auctions all down and waiting, or cancelling the account all together because this is past ridiculous. 20 auctions an hour? 200 maybe, 100 even. How do you sell transmog from ONE PROFESSION if you farmed enough to make most of the pieces? I have 400 auctions just from blacksmithing and engineering transmog pieces, god only knows how much my wife has having all crafting professions and unobtainable patterns for many of them. Cmon blizzard, stop being stupid. There are better ways without punishing people you just have to put the work in.
1c or even 1s in most cases is virtually the same price. So the old system was essentially LIFO.
What’s good about it? What will the positive effect be?
This is overkill. The problem is the all-day cancel scan, post-scan people. I shouldn’t have to block out an hour and a half to two hours just to repost my auctions when they expire.
Well, if a specific item gets sold 5 units a day and there’s more than one people posting, of course there’s the need to repost stuff, otherwise people will just craft a crapton of the same item and keep posting again and again to try and sell some of it. You do that, or you wont sell anything, simple.
Implement buy orders and the problem is solved.
The difference is this: with LIFO, i cancel the scan and repost the same item for the same price.
Without LIFO and with cancel scans crippled, i post multiples of the same item at infinitesimally lower and lower prices.
If you enjoy wading through pages and pages and pages of single posts of greens just to find the best cost on a transmog item, then this is for you.
I’m affected by this change and I don’t do it the way you described. If Blizz Devs can find the magic number then I’m all for it.
As it stands, even my wife who is new to the game can see how ridiculous this hotfix sounds and performs. She said, “it’s like punishing players for having fun with the game.”
Imagine New players leveling and getting tons of different tradeskill items, they keep them and sell them in bulk because they want to get gold, because they don’t have any gear to effectively farm, or the experience to know how to farm raw mats. My wife would hit the throttle by posting all her items daily until they all sold.
This hotfix is anti-new player, un intuitive, and punishing. Fix the problem, Blizz, not punish the players.
I agree with that.
Blizzard, This is stupid please revert this.
Cancel scanning is B.s but don’t punish the ones that don’t
