At what point do you think a skeleton is 'over used'

I see a mount, for example the newest one that was for the new years and think ‘another cloud serpent’
i dont see a snake. i just see a cloud serpent. i just see the same skeleton used over and over and over again.

Blizzard doesn’t put much effort or imagination into their MTX products.

The cloud serpent skeleton is one they rely on too heavily, in my opinion. Just because it works with one type of serpent, doesn’t mean it works well with anything sharing the same general shape. Don’t get me wrong though. I love my cloud serpents. They’re the best. But that skeleton doesn’t need to be slapped on everything, nor should it.

To me, that’s a good thing. Also it is a cloud serpent. So it still fits.

And I think it’s a good thing, because there are people out there with Ophidiophobia. This lessens the snake effects for them while still maintaining the snake look.

Yeah, it looks okay with the new mount. Not perfect in my opinion, but okay.

Could always be worse, could be FF14 where one of their hardest bosses to date uses a frog skeleton.

The current skeleton works for a one-off flying snake. Probably more than it does for the Wilderlings. If all of a sudden we were going to get a bunch of snake mounts, I would at least like new ground animations for them.

How much a skeleton is re-used though comes down to the artwork and animations that can be attached to a model. I don’t think there is an arbitrary limit.

If you asked, arthropods would tell you that skeletons were a bad idea from day one.
So I guess it depends on who you ask.

I don’t think that at all, because the purpose of a skeleton in modeling is to be reused.

I think “skeleton reuse” is one of the most overrated complaints about this game.

Its not the skeletons fault. They could resuse a skeleton (esp. with races) 10 times so long as the art was a deviation.

Its not skeleton reuse but animation reuse that makes it feel bad.

I personally feel the dragon customization system from DF should have been used to reorganize our whole mount collections. Unify all mounts of the same skeleton together as a single base mount with a list of collectable skins that can be selected for it.

We have too many mounts in game, I no longer go “wow I need that mount” anymore so I guess it doesn’t matter

When it’s an Alliance side HORSE.

There are exactly two mounts I actually go “wow, I can’t believe they have that!” when I see them at this point, and they’re Valiance and the Midnight PVP mount. Just cause those take some serious effort, honorary mention to Invincible I guess, or any other -1%mount.

I think it’s overused when you can tell that the skeleton does not fit the model.

The new snake is a great example of this.

Also feel like we have a million horses, gryphons, hippogryphs, proto drakes and regular drakes. It would be nice to see a new dragon rig or two with all unique animations.
