Is it a zone thing or a level thing?
I’m just curious because I’ve looted dozens of chests recently and the best thing I’ve seen is a green in the barrens.
At what point do you start getting a chance and rares and epics?

Chest loot got nerfed heavily in 2019 because they were sooo heavily botted, so now they almost never even drop greens. Blues and epics are possible but extremely rare, but the lowest level epics are in the 30s, so not until level ~40 zones.

I leveled a warrior and a mage through when they first dropped classic and progressed them through.
I played HC and SoD for a while after that but now I’m back home.

Blue world drops from chests are extremely rare. You’d have to open 100s of chests to ever see one. I’ve played Classic since 2019, opened a zillion chests and have seen eleven-ish blue drops from chests - most of those from fished up chests.

If classic is so bad, why is it so popular and have so many different iterations of it?
I’ve leveled to 60 multiple times and then went to bc, then wrath and then cata classic.
I came back to classic because this world feels more alive to me. It feels like an actual community of players and not a lobby game where you sit in a city and wait for queues to pop.
And isn’t that the entire point of an mmorpg? To have fun with other players in a role playing environment?
popular is a prospective word, if you think classic is popular then that’s just how you think. also retail is the wow that played by most people NOT classic.
However talking about popularity! you know that also trash phone games or pay to win games are popular this days, it’s all about the quality of players.
but i will tell you one thing for sure “you are living in illusion and will be one of the first people who quit this game once you realize how failure it is” right now you are just being in bless because you are ignorant about how ugly classic is but soon you will know that it is no longer a game for fun & this is why classic release had +million players but within first couple of months almost 8/10 of those people did already quit.

I’ll agree the anniversary realms player base is mostly people who are playing the game as a solved game, prioritizing making the “correct” choice in all situations, but I’ve found era to be much more play as you like.
Did you know that classic, tbc and wrath were the only 3 xpacs to not lose subs for their entire durations?
This happens to every single xpac now. You’ll see a bump when a new season kicks off then you see the steady decline. Every single time. This is in retail too.
