At this point what can even saved ranked pvp?

it’s obvious there’s still deflation especially in 2s and 3s and shuffle

shuffle is rating is fine, blitz is too inflated (this will be nerfed in s2 just you wait), 2s and 3s need some love tho

Well this became relevant rather quickly.

this is not about below average ratings. this is about the state of pvp

wym? boosting sites are getting 900k page visits per month early season. Seems like pvp is thriving.

that is the state of pvp for a rat like him

:flushed: :face_with_open_eyes_and_hand_over_mouth: :face_with_open_eyes_and_hand_over_mouth:
well that escalated quickly

How am I a rat now?

you want to associate yourself with the rats on the boosting discord then you are also a rat

You think the mods get tired of looking at the same 10 people spam reporting anyone who talks about it here every day and updooting each other?

Give shuffle glad mount. And Blitz it’s own mount.

You’ll see PvErs line up to get good. Which will drive up participation and then drive up MMR inflation, which means everyone will get the rewards they want. Win Win scenario for everyone.

What on earth are you talking about?

Again, what on earth are you talking about?
I don’t report things on the forum unless it’s blatant hate speech or truly abhorrent - free speech is important, even if I don’t agree with what people say.

Also, idgaf about my history with players, I like posts that are good takes, even if the poster has a history of bad or questionable takes.

Solo shuffle to be called Cholo Hustle.

Are you stuck in the dot com bubble or something? Page visits <> boosts bought.

Shuffle rating is still deflated at this point of the season compared to previous seasons. Also healer rating in shuffle is still 200-300 points deflated compared to DPS, as has been the case for the last 4 seasons.

Can’t really save wow pvp tbh (this is coming from someone who is going to be playing it regardless)

I think the people who pvp a lot that quit playing greatly exceeds the people who are hopping into the pvp scene.

There are a ton of reasons for this, which all add up over time:

  • horrible lfg interface/experience,
  • constant moving of the goal posts with inflation/deflation for static reward thresholds,
  • abysmal class tuning frequency (granted it has been better than previous expansions),
  • entire specs being removed from the meta or put at god tier for weeks at a time which makes people feel that their time has been wasted,
  • some pay to win aspects as far as new/average players being able to afford bis enchants/gems,
  • needing 5-15 addons to play the game without being handicapped,
  • generally high barrier to entry overall for a pvp game (leveling, gearing, etc. for every spec you are interested in playing),
  • needing to utilize 3rd party websites to learn how to play and/or gear your spec(s) effectively in pvp,
  • highly toxic community (granted it’s similar in other games),
  • ability bloat/needing to memorize 50-75 keybinds per spec if you want to account for focus and targeting macros (most other pvp games I play have like 5-6 binds max),
  • the game is designed to overload you with so much information that most people can’t keep up with it/get frustrated/stop playing
  • rewards are lame more often than not (e.g., pennants, lame temporary titles, bad low effort mogs/enchants/elite weapons/tabards usually, not always but more often than not imo)
  • 20-40 minute average queue times for dps at most times of the day, or sit for an unknown amount of time in lfg to maybe play, assuming your spec isn’t gutter tier, just to see the group fall apart after 1 or 2 losses,
  • Blizzard gave up on trying to incentivize healers, so again, horrible queue times for dps
  • General realization that Blizzard doesn’t really care about pvp
  • Dying population
  • Have to listen to people trash talk or disable chat, because if you defend yourself or even think about trash talk/banter, you’ll get suspended and eventually permanently banned
  • More effort from Blizzard to make store mounts than to work on pvp tuning/maps/bug fixes/ui improvements/etc.
  • Having to pay a subscription fee on top of paying for the base game/expansions, then realistically needing to spend more money on wow tokens to be able to afford stuff in game, unless you devote a lot of time to farming resources
  • horrible base ui, most of the information you really need can’t be easily ascertained without addons, many of which require tweaking, a huge learning curve, and/or a bachelors degree in computer science/coding

Kind of tired from listing things, but most of the bigger items are listed above.

WoW pvp, if to ever thrive again, will need to appeal to the masses in a way that is comparable to games like Warzone, Fortnite, Apex, Pubg, Overwatch, LoL, etc., or in other words, there needs to be a universally acceptable ui, incredibly low barrier to entry, zero addons allowed/required, cut out half if not more of the abilities we have now, especially ones that aren’t really fun to the majority (e.g., fortitude, AI, incredibly niche abilities that hardly see play, etc.), get rid of the idea of focus macros, focus targets, etc. so that the binding requirements aren’t so intense/complicated, and then regular tuning/adjustments/content updates that make sense and that aren’t the result of pve changes drooling over to pvp.

Plunderstorm is a good idea as far as a lot of the above stuff goes. Bgs/arena would need to function in a similar manner imo.

Then, if we scrap the sub fee, maybe ranked pvp has a chance.

Since none of the above will ever happen, the answer is again, realistically, nothing

I am the one to answer your inquisitive question.

If the heavens opens up and a disembodied voice says “Put Jeff Kaplan in charge of WOW PVP. Plis and tanks.” things would change hard and for the better.

Overwatch 2 is dogwater btw

I don’t get why people hate on overwatch 2. At the end of the day it’s a beautiful game, pretty well balanced, super fluid/feels good to play, intuitive ui, no need for Addons, incredibly low barrier to entry, zero pay to win unless cosmetic skins make you play better, short queues unless you’re in the top 0.1%, solo queue functionality for all/lots of unique game modes, regular events, decent enough lfg/grouping system for pugs, solo queue feeds into regular ladder.

The only negative I can think of are the somewhat rigged matchmaking algorithms, but at the end of the day, you will still climb if good enough, and tbh, I think the matchmaking algorithms are probably a necessary evil to keep participation healthy. The ratings in Overwatch make more sense than those in wow.

I wish they would also do different xmogs, but this teams too lazy

Maybe a different recolor. PvE gets like what, 3 recolors for the set?
