Yes delaying would be for the best imo, no point in not. Everyone is gonna play BFA and like it with the current climate or watch paint dry lmao.
Yeah. WoW death. That’s a forum thing since vanilla right? And I think no matter how good the expansion is people’s are still going to complain. Blizzard probably take it as inevitable at this point.
It’s definitely not a forever impact. At best it’ll be like this. New expansion hype. Current expansion irrelevant.
And the biggest question is “is delaying actually improve the game?”. On the bug fix side? Sure. On the gameplay side, will it? You can’t like “yeah, that’s bad delete it” and leave a core system size hole in the game. If I were to do work on something like this the core design would be the first thing to do and everything else adapt to it. And at this point that they have alpha build. A lot must have been done already.
I’m pretty sure the “Available on or before December 31st, 2020” is there for a reason. It’s giving them time in case something happens… Like a virus that’s forcing people into shutting themselves inside, buying obscene amounts of toilet paper, and living off of hotpockets and frozen pizzas!
According to the media WoW players already do that though?!
Nonono…
See, now the Warcraft players are given two reasons to stay inside. Meanwhile the Karens only have one.
Blizzcon won’t be cancelled unless they don’t have anything worth sharing. By the time fall rolls around the Coronavirus will be long gone.
they arnt even giving out sub numbers anymore. The last estimate in wod showed a staggering drop.
legion was great but they still didnt give the numbers.
how many didnt come back for legion? how many left for good ?
after all this we have BFA. BFA arguably was decent expansion. 5050 style not a big deal but we can see a drop in population.
Shadowlands will bring back people who left in BFA… but if its bad… it might kill wow.
with enough feedback from beta testers maybe devs can work to improve those systems.
Famous stuff. azerite wasnt really implemented till the tale end of beta… lead to a massive backlash since the testing phase was just cut completely.
Only fixed at 8.1. arugably 8.2 if you count essences.
i hope your correct.
really hope you are right.
It’s a virus. They are for the most part only active in the colder seasons. If anything, it might only be an issue for the Southern Hemisphere during our summer.
And with a virus having such a short life as they do, it’s going to be easy to stop. All it takes is for people to isolate themselves for two weeks, as inconvenient as that may be for modern society.
I’d rather they take their time instead of a repeat of Beta for Azeroth.
You just described half the playerbase before Corona lol.
Wait. So, it was like azerite just didn’t drop at all in beta?
I think that new essence currency is a sign that SL is a long way off.
It’s the same length of time they’ve literally always had for expansions.
If they are cutting content to make that release date, sure, delay it a couple months, but if it’s done, there’s no reason to arbitrarily push it back in hopes it magically gets better.
If they are having issues due to the pandemic, I don’t mind delays till 2021. They have families to worry about too, and as much as we want the next expansion, can any of you in good conscience say you’d like it; even if it came at the expense of someone else’s loved ones?
That’s why as much as I’d love to… get away from BFA, I’ll wait it out. Some news on what their goals are could even help them polish it. We may not have the alpha, but having some Forum based “Virtual Town Halls” while we wait this crisis out might foster good will and communication.
Besides, wouldn’t it be cool if Watcher and others came to General to chill while we’re all working from home and just shot the breeze on what their plans were for Shadowlands?
I am 100% confident Shadowlands will be delayed. The management team will ultimately blame world events and investors will give it a pass since these are certainly difficult times for all businesses.
I’m going to guess Christmas 2020 or an early 2021 release, at this point.
hear me out.
california cant hit the temp to drasticly kill the virus.
secondly.
it can come back shortly after. theres a example of the flue laying dormant throughout the winter months then coming back ramping havoc as a newer evolved form.
Shadowlands isn’t going to come out until the fall, and they gave up on this xpac, so hopefully they have been focused on that. As for Blizzcon, I see no reason they’d cancel something that is taking place next November.
You just described my late teens to my early twenties life. How my blood isn’t as thick as paste right now is the grace of God.
What a stupid post
