I don’t think so.
You still saw same people dominating in arena and BGs. All templates did was make it easier because a lesser skilled, but over geared player couldn’t give those players a run for their money.
I understand what you are saying that a highly geared player couldn’t solo like three players like what happens now.
But templates not only limited choice but the lack of transparency. That lack of transparency became worse with BFA.
