Asking the hard question(for Skyfurry)

So Skyfurry seems to be dying in terms of daily active player base(at least, from a horde players perspective) and it’s beginning to be beyond frustrating trying to accomplish anything and always dealing with the first hurdle being 2-3 hrs+ of forming a group, then(unluckily) being stuck with a language barrier because some people from outside of our region play on our realm and cannot communicate so when they are messing things up/making things more difficult you have no choice but to either deal with it or look like a d*** for kicking them/wasting their lockout. What I want to know is, do we currently have an option as far as free transfers? I see so many people fleeing our realm(again, from the horde side) and it’s starting to make it feel as if a transfer is inevitable if I want to be able to do content later on. Which sucks because I am in a guild and value my friendships I’ve made in it very much but you cant hardly accomplish anything with only 3-4 people online most times. Even our guild had plenty of 80s, but a small fraction of those people are online most days. If there’s no free transfer solution… at what point do you begin to contemplate spending your money to transfer? At this point it’s starting to feel as though moving to a megaserver and starting over with no connections(or few considering I do have friends who play on other realms) would be a better option just to be able to have a higher success rate at filling/finding groups to do things together and have fun. I don’t know maybe it’s just me, maybe it’s not. But something’s got to give somewhere and I am trying to see what anyone else’s thoughts on this are.

I just realized you posted in both wow classic and wotlk. so gonna copy and paste my response for others to see here.

I know first hand at least a dozen guilds have paid to leave skyfury. The true number is probably 50.

Tbh you can blame the leader of the discord mo*****. That individual has severe issues (not shocking for a discord admin) and banned every person for the tiniest infraction due to extreme wokeism.

People got fed up. Xferred off. There was no community, no fun, no games. just hyper activism because someone had a different opinion on :syringe: than the admin. It’s a shame really. Fun server but someone gets handed a little power (the only power in their lives) and take it the the nth degree.

Pay to go to atiesh. You’ll be far better off

I just noticed when I read your response in the first post I had posted in the wrong classic forum so I left it up and also double posted it to wrath’s forums. Just trying to get the most opinions I can at this point.

The forums tried to warn players all summer last year. Players were complaining and asking for a fresh Wrath server because they didn’t like the gold economy and had such disdain for gdkps.

Apparently they are now turning into ghost towns. Turns out having people to play with may be more important than some misguided jealousy for who has a bunch of gold and is buying gear.

Who knew? Oh… everyone else did…

I’m waiting for the transfers to open up to grobb, then I’ll leave skyfury shthole asap
can’t stand playing on a mono faction server, such disdain for the game and “warcraft”

Skyfurry actually is not mono faction. Alliance just seems to be more active. according to Ironforg.pro we have almost a 50/50 split. Just more active players on ally I think. If I were to transfer I would honestly transfer to a mono faction horde server just 'cause it’d make my day to day easier. I don’t know. Just trying to hear other people’s opinions from/about our server

not talking about skyfury. I was talking about the rest of the available options to transfer atm

same happened to maladath… i mean maladead, one day last week (granted it was during the day) I did /who 80… only me came up… i thought weird /who 70-80 2 people came up me and some level 74 guy… so i did /who 1-80 and only 8 (EIGHT) total people came up on horde side… yes eight 1-80 all zones everything…

So i moved to altkandiland and now theres 50+ of all 80/class and 50+ 1-10, 20-30 and so on… however now its very frustrating as you join a group for open world quests and you see the dot on the map but you cant see the person in front of you. someone said its called phasing and you have a better chance at winning powerball than actually seeing your team mate in open world content…

this is more frustrating than no players… its like the server is full of no players

intriguing, you would think they would have that smoothed out considering how long they’ve been using phasing tech

EDIT: Might I add that a /who 80 nets 50+ online players on horde right now of multiple classes. So maybe it’s just the community doesn’t play well together? I don’t know. I mean, there’s like 2,500 or so horde players on our server and a little more than that alliance so it’s not super populated but you’d think people would play together more especially given that there’s no LFD tool or anything… like you have to socialize to really get anything done… but people don’t?

Unfortunately youll be waiting forever.

its incredibly unlikely youll get to go to grobb anytime soon. If i were you id go somewhere else as a bridge first then eventually try to get to grobb. Def leave SF asap though.

LOL what?

First its called layering. Atiesh has at most 2 layers. That means you have a 50/50 chance at seeing your other person in the wild. Your odds of winning the powerball are 1 in 292 million.

so yeah basically close enough right?

Join their party and you see them no problem. its REALLY not that big of a deal.

i spent 2 hours trying to join a mage (just us 2) we tried the /reload, zone into a dungeon/raid (worked in instance) - but zoned out into a different layer) also sent tells back and forth disbanding/reforming the group and logged out/in over and over as well as adding a 3rd person (all 3 of us were in different layers). We ended up sending friend requests and accepting in the blizzard app and after that we managed to meet up in open world. It was very frustrating.

You can only layer hop once every 10-15 mins. So by inviting / reinviting / going into instances blah blah blah youre messing up the timer.

Stand in the open world. Invite through the game, dont need to be bnet friends, and itll merge itself.

Skyfury had layers too for a while, up until like November or something. You should be used to it by now.

i was never on skyfury. I was on maladath and we didnt have any layers (it was a fresh new realm with no tokens or anything)

ye, you might be right.
I still believe they might open transfers soonish than later tho.
What’s the cd on tranfers? 30 days?

Yeah it’s pretty bad. It just snowball effects because less people doing content means more effort to find groups for those still trying to do it. Eventually the tradeoff for the amount of effort to play the game becomes too much and you stop trying. Happened to me with heroics, not wanting to be part of the problem but admittedly I find myself skipping the daily more and more often then just raid logging since raid is always set at specific date/times with guild.

Blizz hates mega servers because you don’t have to put in all the effort to make connections and socialize but they are the best playing experience objectively (imo since people will come in here saying noOOooOooO ur wrong just get more friends then bc I like playing with the same 5 people only all the time!!!)

Like I don’t even try to pug anything really anymore on SF bc it’s just not worth the time and effort

it would be nice if they had a ring of sync in open world where you could go with people to get into their layer. Maybe have the ring of sync around summoning stones since I tried summoning people to a dungeon yesterday and each one of us were in a different layer, everyone ended up just manually go to the dungeon which added more time than just doing the dungeon.

You are making it sound way worse of a problem then it is. You simply just didnt understand how it all worked.

Get into a party and just chill. You dont need to be bnet friends or any of that. Group up in Dalaran then head out. You wont have issues. Just join group and be patient.

however there are potential issues in I think storm peaks where if someone is on a different part of a quest chain they are perm phased. Doesnt matter what server youre on. They see a different world than you.

No one is queuing in LFG to group up with
