Fairly sure the note is there solely for the people that want to say please and thank you. Or to write something silly to grab attention to their posting. Honestly, they could be removed and nothing of value would be lost.
no. plenty of us use it. it’s not our fault you don’t.
I think we got a system that works.
If you want some specific go to a specialist. Something random go to public.
I dun think it needs to change.
I think it would have a very negative effect on crafters because most orders the buyers would be setting the prices not the crafters. It is extremely expensive to level those crafting professions yet masses of people think 500 - 1000g is enough for ‘pushing a button’.
Proof you’re not paying attention. The TITLE says I did.
that’s a good point.
Wow… interesting thread here. I read through this after basically doing the same thing a couple days ago.
I was honestly shocked when I got my item back and it wasn’t full quality. I don’t consider myself to be a genius or anything but I’m also not dumb. I play the game at a pretty quick rate most of the time and I know that 99% of the quests and content are indeed completely trivial. I paid no attention to whatever tutorial they may have put in the game for this crafting system.
Came back after a long break and even though I used it a couple times in df it was instantly done in trade chat for me then. I never tried anything with public orders or even really knew it was a thing.
So…I made my warrior leveled got to 80 got some stuff and got ready to craft my first piece…went to the crafter looked up all the stuff went to ah bought all the highest quality items and started spamming trade…which I couldn’t even post a link of my item in for some reason so I just stood there asking for a crafter for nearly 30 minutes. Nobody answered…I went out and farmed some nodes…came back and another ,30 mins or so spamming trade…I did this for about a 4 hour cycle. Not a single whisper or communication with anyone. So I typed in chat “doesn’t anyone talk in this game anymore?”
The response I got was “just make a public order someone will grab it and you’ll get it in the mail later.” Or something very close to that. So…I did.
It wasn’t even 3 minutes and poof …I got mail. Obviously…not a full quality piece.
This was my first experience with the crafting system.
The system, is bad.
That being said… knowledge is power and now I know it won’t ever happen again.
They should simply add a popup window before you confirm the order letting people know any quality can come from public orders. It’s an incredibly easy fix… Someday maybe they can admit one of their systems has a flaw. Someday…
Funny, I was told in this thread that 500-1000g was too little for “pushing a button”.
Sorry that happened to you, Spiller, truly.
you’re using it incorrectly. that’s on you.
it is too little, if you expect the crafter to push that “concentration” button.
In your opinion.
It is not. If people don’t read the in-game quests that is on you.
I suspect that the piece you are referring to is the crafted pants? The quality doesn’t matter, they scale to 639 regardless.
What difference does that make. A piece made from nothing but the best mats should yield the best possible piece of gear. It’s just that simple. Regardless of what someone else may think you aren’t the one playing the character. I am, I have to look at it knowing it’s not full quality. That isn’t up to anyone to decide if that’s ok accept the person who is using the item.
To expect a person to go through every single quest and remember it all is simply nonsense. There are literally tens of thousands of quests in the game and 99.5% of them have absolutely nothing to do with being tutorial based. To think a person clicking on the exclamation mark is just gonna somehow inherently just know that “this is the one I need to pay attention to” is absolutely terrible design. Also…there is nothing that forces you to do that quest at all. I’m sitting in 636 ilvl pvp gear and I’ve done like…20, maybe 30 quests. I don’t think I even entered a city at all till max level. It takes literally 4-8 hours to get to max. Again…if it weren’t for chat I wouldnt even know crafting was a thing at all.
Let’s just be honest. A system that allows players to craft sub quality items at the expense of anyone ever is not a good design. It just doesn’t make any logical sense to allow a person to “hope” for what they are actually asking for. You can argue that till your blue in the face and I will absolutely never agree with you. If a person can’t craft a full quality item based on it being ordered with max quality resources…then they simply shouldn’t be allowed to craft it. It really should be that simple. To allow any wiggle room there is bad design and an invite to problems that simply shouldnt even exist.
Incorrect. That would completely remove the entire skill system.
If it was unacceptable, you should have set a minimum order with an order that allows that.
If you play in such a way where you don’t interact with the game world, you’re going to miss things. They built it into the main new player experience, as well as showcasing in the UI the minimum quality that the item can be with the crafting order before you submit it.
That system isn’t one we have.
You cannot get an item other than what you order, as has been explained here many, many times. You ordered an item with the 639 heraldries, an embellishment, and possibly a missive, and that is the item that was provided to you, exactly as ordered.
Well ok. I guess we can just agree to disagree. The system is ridiculous. Force people to stand there spamming trade for God knows how long…for me so far it’s been roughly 6 hours over two pieces of asking. That in itself is absolutely ridiculous. Or, hope… That’s not good. It just isn’t. Lol. I have better things to do than ask people to push a freaking button for me. I did the work, I farmed the gold, I bought the mats, I got everything I needed…why do I have to wait or hope at the end of the process. It’s dumb.
You’re not forced to stand around and spam. You also didn’t do the work to max out that item.
I didn’t? I didn’t go and and mine hundreds of nodes and gather hundreds of herbs and catch hundreds of fish and gain the honor and conquest and spend my heraldry and all the items I had to sit and look up and go buy … nah, I didn’t do any of that…
And I certainly didn’t stand there asking for hours with no response at all. Nah, never happened.
You did not put in the effort to level your blacksmithing, unlock the recipe, and fill crafting orders to gain the knowledge, nor did you supply concentration or the finishing reagents for it.
Thank you for proving my point. A person who didn’t do enough work to craft a full quality item shouldn’t be taking the order. You’re right.
Don’t post it as a public order then. If you want maxed out items and particular quality, use systems that allow you to set quality minimums
