I’ve seen this done a few times and now I’ve done it. It’s just not enjoyable to me. We went straight to the High Warload and killed him. It was about three minutes tops there was no PvP to be had at all. I don’t know what blizzard needs to do to fix this. Maybe Put an invisible gate that you can go out, but you can’t go in the first 5 minutes of the battleground.
It’s because there is no npc/vehicle scaling at all. There is also no healer balance. Epics are a joke beyond the first season of each expansion.
Might as well put SS vs. TM into the queue. I wonder how many epic enthusiasts would specific queue that.![]()
Indeed ![]()
Ironically, something like SS vs TM has no “balance” issues to worry about the same way, say… Isle of Conquest does. Just a flat/open map with two deathballs going at it in the middle, it’s basically “set it and forget it” with no maintenance or bugs to worry about.
No “boss” mobs either that can be cheesed for a quick win like what happens with Ashran backdoor boss rush
Blizzard could give a buff to the NPCs so they do lots of extra damage and take heavily reduced damage until the flags are pushed all the way to their base.
This could change easily, we have seen them do it. It needs to be done every season.
The fact that even epic premade communities sometimes specific queue it when it’s up says something. People obviously want to play it.
Not too much cheese or special strats you can do there. Just straight up brawling. Should be available all the time.
The thing about Blizz and pvp is that they actually do care about pvp…but only when it comes to class balance and arena. They couldn’t care less about battlegrounds.
There is so much untapped potential there. All they really have to do is release new maps and that alone would do wonders.
Excellent idea.
cheese or special strats
SS vs TM actually has some glaring flaws imo. I think the optimal strat is to camp in your town while stealthies try to snipe civilian npcs. The civilians are very easy to kill, and each one grants a full point equivalent to killing a player. There’s ~20 of them total on a 5-10 min respawn timer. You can reach the 150 points to win just with stealthies killing civilians if you are patient enough. If the enemy pushes into your town, the friendly guards and short graveyard distance should be a decisive combat advantage.
Luckily most people don’t care that much and play this BG like an open-field brawl/deathmatch, which I believe was Blizzard’s intent. But I have seen a premade Alliance group trying too hard vs a pug and camping with their guards at the start of the match.

Yeah, other than class/spec balance issues, lol, but i hear you. They should add SSvTM to provide more variety into the rotation. I also like that there are no special PvE buffs in there too.

Hasn’t been the strat in a long time, we can easily overpower the town guards (even easier with season 3 gear).
Hold W, commit some warcrimes, graveyard farm, that’s the meta now

Haha, you talking about my premade?

The guards aren’t the deciding factor, it’s the massive graveyard advantage. If you die, you’re back in the fight in 20s, but if an enemy dies, they won’t be in the fight for several minutes.
I did one today that was lost by points, it was just a big fight on the road for like 45 minutes. Good times had by all I hope.

I was in that SS vs TM on the Horde side a couple months ago! Clever win! GG’s!

When the enemy team is much weaker, yes you can just kill them and their guards while standing on the gy without a problem. The “meta” strat is only necessary when both teams are evenly matched and skilled at the game. I think the guards would make a difference in such a match. They might not be so deadly in season 3, but they still have decently high HP and I think their attacks can apply dazed. Even just the UI/nameplate clutter they cause for the enemies is a factor.
The graveyard distance is probably more important though, as Alecthegreat said. These factors incentivize playing defensively and close to town while slowly collecting “free” points from civilian npcs kills.
How to fix this BG:
- Guards die in 1 hit and do no damage
- Civilian NPCs dont grant points. Only player kills grant points
- Add Ashran style zone-control nodes between the towns. The final node can be 80 yards away from the graveyard. Capping the final node instantly wins the match

not my fault u cant push a gy sry
I see if I can put up a poll for SSvTM who knows me will give enough votes and blizzard would see it.
Any team with half a brain can easily stop a backdoor. If you can’t stop them in the backdoor, you weren’t going to stop them in the road, and the 3min game is then a real timesaver.
How? Is this in Rated? I can never get anyone to agree to backdoor in Random. It’s all go RoC, get routed there and then lose to the giant rock summon.
