They have announced a rework already.

This is the worst “pvp event” ive ever seen.

I did it 5 times. In a raid. All dps into the boss. No rep. Half the people didn’t get rep. This is dumb.

Most of my vanilla pvp memories are from Silithus, Winterspring, Black Rock Mountain and the obligatory STV. I vaguely remember some Southshore-Tarren Mill but it was just a big back and forth zerg so didn’t really standout.

Some of my favourite moments were my 3, sometimes 4, man group niggling the alliance until more and more came. I remember one time having a running battle all the way from Cenarion Hold to the Gates of Ahn Qiraj with the alliance eventually outnumbering us 3 to 1. My vanilla memories are built on countless small stories like this that all had small, group-scaled pvp at their heart.

Yes, there were zergs, yes there was ganking, but there was a hell of a lot of small skirmishes that were organic and required no rewards. We were just having fun.

I wonder about where that mindset has gone. Everyone is just focusing on the rewards. Where are the rewards!!!11!1!

Why isn’t fun the reward?

There is a lot of ways to fix this. 1. Change position of bases. (i dont like criticizing without giving suggestions) so solution for that and obviously room to adjust it but a general idea. Put 3 horde bases on the west. Alliance have to fight through them starting at the first. Put 3 alliance bases on the east. Same thing for horde gotta fight through them. Each base allows you to fight the next. But heres the thing There will be a 4th base but its your own HQ after the 3rd of the opposite factions base (you have to run through your own HQ to get to the enemy HQ. so the horde and alliance will have to cross paths to get to each other’s HQs. It forces a fight. Now if one side is a lot faster then the other it can be completed with a lack of pvp. But this also allows players who want to defend time to bolster a defense at their bases by pushing across no mans land. Probably wont make it in time to defend the first, BUT will have time to get to the 2nd and 3rd. It allows for the same style they already have but it eliminates the 2-3 min event and allows for PvP. A kill can award 1 rep. The 3 bases could each award 50 rep and main boss awards 250 rep. I have a feeling that most PvPers are like me and if we wanted to do something like this we would just go PvE where there is some actual design to the boss fight. I have never replied or posted on the forums (I honestly cant remember if i have) in 14 years of playing the game. This is the only thing I have ever felt compelled to go to the forums about.

Paragraphs, my dude. They are everyone’s friend.

There was a hotfix deployed today that forces you to go to the Lieutenants before the Generals can be touched. Has anyone tried this? What’s it like?

They are damage sponges now. I forget exactly how long it took us to kill the first one uncontested, but I got the impression that a single raid would struggle to down all three LTs and the final boss within the time limit, I think single raid layers would be hard pressed to come close if the opposing faction tried to defend. Only done it a few times since the change and we haven’t been able to kill more than 2 LTs before the time limit.

Ok so the thing is that this style of combat does not scale to large numbers. World pvp is trash and any event trying to encourage or imitate world pvp is going to be trash.

Even if it is like ‘good ol TM’ style raids it always just became who had more numbers and who has more ranged. It is just awful, like have you experienced mass world pvp on a warrior / rogue / feral or any other melee where anytime you even walk 2 steps forward you get insta targeted by 60 people and you instantly die before you even get a rend off? Any pvp where half of the classes just cant participate in is just going to be trash and shouldn’t have developer time wasted on it.

This is why we have BGs / Arena that force fights with low target counts. Yeah we do have 40 man BGs but as you’ve noticed they all devolve into the same degeneracy as we are seeing now where we just zerg the pve targets asap and move on.

This has been the same song and dance for 20 years and it’s not going to change. World pvp does not work, it will never work, emulating it with objectives will not work. It is trash and you need to stop getting hyped for it.

I for one am glad that it is just rush a few bosses and move on, really not interested in seeing mages and hunters volley each other for hours on end while I twiddle my thumbs. They should just focus on making BGs better and the rewards more accessible instead of iteration #18 of ‘lets make world pvp work this time!’ I’m not saying I enjoy this, I’m just saying it is the least frustrating way to have to do it to get the mandatory rewards. I would much rather this just not exist at all.

That sounds fun tbh, I feel like you kind of need a map like AV for that with chokes though, or else everybody is just going to zerg and no one defends.

Im more concerned with the Horde bosses doing nothing like root/dmg or summoning. Literally a piñata with a weapon
