Yep, it’s another RDF post. I clicked on these forums thinking “oh, there’s gonna be some intelligent conversations about some WOTLK nostalgia” but instead it’s “OMG PLS GIB RDF SENPAI UWU” posted a million times. I can tell from the tone of voice in these posts that these posters never really played the original Wrath of the Lich King. So here’s my unsolicited 2 cents:
Classic WoW is supposed to be an absolute slog of a marathon. While it’s so tempting to head straight into raids and endgame content, you have to remember that WOTLK is an expansion. That means you still have the original Classic and BC content as well to play through. Enjoy the journey, not the destination, and focus on playing the game.
RDF didn’t hit until after ICC dropped. All these people who are saying it was there in the beginning didn’t play the original expansion.
After RDF released, there was a seriously noticeable reduction in in-game chat. Those “gg” and “ty” comments that seem inefficient to some people helped make the game feel more social and human imo (even to the point of me considering it a social network in some aspects). RDF made the game very cold and alone.
Classic WoW raiding is really hardcore. Even though Wrath doesn’t have attunments or many prereqs to entering a raid instance, the processes of the various raids do require some more skill than mashing AOE spells everywhere. So it only makes sense that some groups (not all) would want to gatekeep certain players from joining. If one group won’t take you, chances are another will. (I’d pay good money to see a group of true RDF randos get through the full Ulduar raid in one piece.)
Retail WoW (Shadowlands and soon Dragonflight) is specifically tuned for casual play. Things like XP and gear drops are balanced to target players who only want to play for a few hours a week. RDF fits in there nicely. Classic WoW is, again, tuned for a long drawn out adventure.
Not trying to gatekeep myself. I want everyone who plays WoW to at least try the Classic versions. But know what you’re getting yourself into. This game has been parodied to death for a reason. Remember how long it took those Colorado boys killing boars in Elwynn Forest to gain enough XP just to even have a chance at that rogue? That is Classic WoW. A wise man once said “It’s not safe out here. It’s wondrous, with treasures to satiate desires both subtle and gross. But it’s not for the timid.” Remember that quote if you have lvling pains while playing.
Anyways, GLHF and remember to spam your AOE all over Dalaran whenever you’re there! =D
i, too, have been playing OG since november 2004. the time to have kept it out was back then. this is a new age of degens and their gogogo zoomer mentality.
op you are completely correct, these guys who say “i played back then too im already 80 full purp” thanks for letting us know youve done nothing since 09 and still can dedicate 10 hours a day lmfao. rdf will not be here soon.
I played back then too and RDF being added was a massive improvement. A vocal minority didn’t like it but who cares, they always complain about change.
Yea I played OG as well and you know what? We need RDF. Also if you want to go that route we are not playing classic wow anymore. We are 2 expansions in. Players got their no RDF for classic and TBC. Now we are in the expansion that released this tool as well as being on the patch that should have said tool.
Ulduar is a raid. People are asking for RDF (random dungeon finder); no one is asking for LFR.
Ulduar would not be in the random dungeon queue because it is not a 5-man dungeon. Someone who played the origial expansion should be able to remember that.
My guild got prebis farmed out in a week and we just bulldozed all of naxx and 3D OS on multiple raid teams. The game is a meme. The game is easy. Not putting in RDF doesn’t change that fact. Just add it in already.
You’re wrong. Patch 3.3.0 dropped on Dec 8th 2009, along with RDF, which dropped the same day. ICC opened on Dec 9th 2009.
Absolutely nonsensical the gibberish that’s this post. Wrath was a slog the first time you leveled from 1-80. For the rest of the xpac, it was an easy player friendly patch. Sorry, BRO, but people do not want to ‘slog’ they’ve never wanted to ‘slog’ and if YOU want to ‘slog’ that’s your choice.
