Likes, retweets, and posts have done nothing for any minority community. Boots on the ground did, gradual changes in culture did, basic empathy did.
Social media does nothing but amplify hate while giving you enough likes and nodding heads to think that you’re being righteous.

Social media enables “boots on the ground” organizing and is a substantive part of shifting focus, like the “gradual changes in culture” and “basic empathy.”
While SM also enables a lot of hate, it’s also a window for people in otherwise isolated communities to actually interact with marginalized folks.
If it’s any consolation a certain someone thought I was trans earlier as well.

Minor point, but “transgendered” is a bit of a faux pas. It’s better to just say “transgender” and “transgender people.”
Some trans people want to be stealth; some do not. You can’t really generalize like that.
