No one interrupts anything. There’s no focus of targets. Do we get through the dungeon ok? Sure. Does it make my life incredibly hard and slows things down when my mana is drained? Also sure. What gives with this playerbase. I figured all the cata peeps have been playing for years and should know this.
Brain rot and meters.
All the players that know this are probably pretty much done with heroics except the few they need to get valor capped because raid bosses drop so few VPs currently.
Soon enough, people won’t need VP anymore and will stop running all together.
Also, me personally, I’ve probably only ran 3 or 4 heroics completely solo this expac. I’ll typically post my interest in running a heroic in discord or guild chat, and can usually get 2 to 4 other people to join me before we get paired with random players.
The raiders are done gearing their main and main-alt and are raid logging or farming. The majority of LFD are just the casuals now.
This is the WotLK effect. Braindead faceroll dungeons that require nothing but a pulse. Wrath dungeons were so bad that cata dungeons feel like a steep increase in difficulty when in fact theyre just the norm.
I am running them now for rep. Once I complete all of the reps I want, doubtful I’ll return unless a guildie needs me to run a dungeon with them or there is some incentive to do so.
100% this.
This was the issue in OG Cata and even worse since there were not betas, alphas, etc.
Everyone was used to face roll dungeons and they thought they could do that in Cata (and the healers have no choice but to allow it which is unfortunate).
Blizzard tried to put mechanics into the dungeons after Wrath, its hard to change people habits when the game turned into top the damage meter.
imagine if WOW never had a damage meter, players would probably use more abilities, dungeons would have been designed different, it was like that when I played DDO in the mid 2000’s.
But it is fun trying to be the top DPS.
Before epics people play smart because they fear death.
After epics people play reckless…
Healer complaining about having to heal, move along.
Most good players are taking a break or playing other games. Right now you just got the struggle bus folks and those playing way above their skill level due to shortage of gamers. Its at the point I wont pug keys until TWW releases
Nah its good to know who is performing well and who is slacking. No meters = carrying all the time while one person does the work
Zug Zug fast for Valor. Hope gear and spec carries you. Mechanics aren’t fun, Tanks and Spank is.
Think the player base has evolved into ARPG players where they want to look at the mobs and they explode and you pick up the loot. (Thats fun!) Really hope MMO’s can evolve as their design is mostly antiquated.
The MMO model and focus shouldn’t be Dungeons or Raids. That’s a thing of the past. People want to pick up loot fast and often and also Solo. It’s 2024. It’s just a different time and very different players.
I’ve been playing Blizz games for 2 decades and I like the ARPG format where mobs explode and you get loot. I like loot hunting farming games. Wish WoW incorporated more of that.
Mindlessly farming mobs is fun. Dodging and doing mechanics isn’t. (Sure some people will disagree but you asked what is up with the playerbase)
Thats one of the reasons I chose to tank as a DK because at least I have 2 interrupts, 3 if you count death grip. But I know what you mean, I was tanking a dungeon yesterday and no one would focus the healer except me. When it comes to Vortex Pinnacle or Throne of the Tides where there are packs with 2 healers, it can get really annoying having to interrupt everything on your own.
its the fact wrath was a “step to retail” and cata only made it worse. mana is so precious more than ever but u got nerds that cant wait 6 seconds to let me get a drink in. its zoom zoom and u better keep up. its much worse in retail. this is where i start taking breaks and wait until the next patch then climb again when things are (unfortunately) easier bc these folks think im breathing mana lol. like i like cata way more than wrath but this zoomin, not doin mechs and even standin in bad more than ever just gets me tired. ppl just cant do anything else but press their rotation and be damned if they have to save the healer by decursin them… lol
Yep, all of this. Zugzug. All these people are playing a single player game. They do not care, not one single bit, about anyone else’s gaming experience in the dungeon. They don’t interrupt, don’t dispel, ignore mechanics, and just expect healers to carry them through it all. Like that is somehow fair that we have to play around them in totality.
tl;dr - Sociopaths.
Classic taught me the community is what is “killing wow”. Given the chance people will fly through content as quickly as possible and min max the fun out of it.
The problem with meters is too many players use them as a contest and focus on nothing but topping the meters. Then you have things like mages who never poly or rogues that never kick. I’ve run with shadow priests who wouldn’t dispel magic when the healer got sleeped. All else is ignored for the parse. When I played a dps alt I was always happy to be average and I thought it was fun to use my interrupts and my full tool kit. As long as my dps didn’t suck I never even tried to top the meters.
deliver punishment as necessary, if the experience is not acceptable for you just leave
truth is, it’s better to tell them WHY you are leaving before you do, as otherwise they might not even consider chain pulling while the healer is oom as a 329 that just dinged tank might be a bad idea, but i doubt most care
So just leave.
I just let em run ahead and do their thing when I need to drink.
I mean, if they’re running a mile ahead with no healer, they can certainly handle it yeah?
Have had some deaths, but haven’t run into any issues yet.
