And what happens when that becomes a pattern for the rogue?
Well assuming the majority of people are like you, they wont do much dungeons with druids.
Rogues also compete with warriors and DKās for various items(particularly since armor affixes arenāt a thing till cata) and to some degree pallies.
Do people that dont want RDF play less desirable dps classes? Just curious if they know what a pain it is to get gatekeeped when applying to groups or not
Edit: the argument āwell make ur own groupā ok so i get gatekeeped from normal groups or I spend an hour trying to find a tank or healer. solid. either way, it is not an enjoyable experience
Ill crap on my keyboard is whats gonna happen. Rogues are people too. Lul
No, no. You arenāt going to just make us sound like the bad guys. Everyone is going to gatekeep, whether they do it on purpose or unknowingly. The pro RDF people are at least smart enough to know that gatekeeping is extremely bad for the playerbase and its longevity. We saw enough posts from people throughout TBC, players frustrated that they canāt get groups simply because of the class they chose to play. This is only going to get substantially worse in WOTLK.
Care to demonstrate how I just engaged in threatening speech against a particular group on the basis of religion, ethnicity or sexual orientation? And what on earth that has to do with RDF?
How? Because they made almost every spec viable??
Dungeons become aoe fests, not all classes have equal aoe.
And now that all tanks have good aoe threatā¦
I think at the heart of it one should never assume that other players will act against their own self interest. There may be exceptions, but average players wont put themselves at a disadvantage intentionally when its all too easy to have a meta group of people.
Very thoughtful argument.
How? Because they made almost every spec viable??
Viable does not = desirable. Youāve already heard from me and others, that most people are going to skip warriors on purpose. You, playing a warrior, should take heed from this.
But they all doā¦ wow you guys are super scared of that gatekeeping thing, you really to the bottom of your heart believe people will gatekeep specific classes for content that takes about 12-15 minutes and poses 0 challenge whatsoever?
I guess from your perspective you could turn that around on meā¦ just a different perspective.

I have absolutely zero fear that these people represent a majority of people. I have 100% confidence in my ability to get in groups as a warrior.

Scared no. Annoyed because we have first hand experienced it? Probably.

Aoe wonāt be a big deal outside of pure min max groups. Loot will though.
Iām being honest, I get some of the pro rdf argument. I really do. By this one, absolutely not. People did not and wonāt gatekeeps for the easiest and shortest dungeons ever created in WoW. Gear score gate keeping happened and will happen at the raid level. Not at the dungeon level.
Dude, it is happening now. I just seen it while leveling, just now actually. I left that group that took 40 mins to make. Only had 2 hours to play tonight, now I canāt even play.
You severely overestimate the community in which you play.
Holy crap this thread is fascinating. First time Iām expose to that side of the conflict: the pro-RDF people are the actual gatekeepers, and we need RDF to prevent THEM from gatekeeping people because without it, they will 100% not be able to resist and gatekeep people from the easiest and shortest content ever created on WoW.
āthe other sideā you sound much like the old national socialist party from Germany. Thread carefully before someone call you something like that
Anyway, this is just a pattern. If I have to spend TIME forming a group, Iāll form the best group I can. Not inviting warriors is a consequence of this.
If I donāt have to spend TIME to form a group for an heroic, and I just need to click a button, Iāll play happily as ever with the group that comes. Always has been.
Youre saying Iām leveling this rogue for nothing???
Nah, Rogue DPS is legit in Wrath.
Alright man, you do you.
Well assuming the majority of people are like you
Most people are.
When healers make the group they will always prefer Mage, Warlock and shadow dps to melee. Hunterās suffer from the ānoobā trope, unfair but real.
When healers make the group some will never willing pick a DK tank, because 94.3% of them are not good and do not understand the class ( the other 5% are fantastic but why risk it ?).
When a Disc priest makes a group, some will not take shadow because a support minded shadow player like you may throw out annoying shields.
A Holy Paladin may see a shadow priest and think, aww yeah niceee.
Anyone forming a group will have biases, they may be gear or class dependent but there will be bias.
This is happening while leveling as well, you are always going to pick the higher level player for your group. They have more spells and a massive advantage because of level.
RDF circumvents all of this and is better in every other way as well.
Side note: I hope you are fully recovered and doing well.
Wellā¦ that is a society. People make decision with their biasesā¦ thatās not specific to WoW.
