It’s hard to let things go as a collector, but the abysmal state that PvP is in this xpac - not only the gear disparity that isn’t being fixed at all in 9.2, but the fact rated PvP is ruled by the boosters…
“Git gud” isn’t worth trying to overcome the problems with PvP that have gone ignored and/or “solved” by increasing honor gains, as if that’s supposed to have any kind of real impact.
Yeah Blizzard, you’re going to have to do way better if you want anyone to take PvP in this game remotely seriously. It’s not even worth a collector’s time anymore.
I’m not really sure PvP has ever been actually taken seriously in this game.
It’s really never been the focus of the game… like, ever?
Sure it exists, but if you actually like PvP content, there’s way better games for PvP content. WoW has shown it really doesn’t care, and they will never consider it a major focus, because most of their customer base is into PvE encounters, not PvP.
I decided PvP was no longer worth my time in Legion, when they stripped the resil and class sets. I really only PvP when there’s some sort of leveling event for it. They even nerfed Korrak’s, so it’s been a while since I PvP’d.
Don’t you just buy boosts though? (according to your earlier posts)
I’m not sure what the issue is unless the boosters on the other side are better than the one you hired, or if the enemy team is all good players/no boostee customer.
If you’re complaining about something that can’t really be “bought”/carried like BG achievements, honor rewards, Mark of Honor mogs, etc then yeah, you just gonna have to buckle down and put in the time for that stuff
You carry in the rated to get the, well, rating. You actually earn the conquest and honor in unrated pug to buy and upgrade it.
You see…the rated once they hit say 2100 or whatever target they have…slum it with us “scrubs” in unrated. Losses don’t affect rating here. Losses in rated…do.
Why some of us not really caring too much about ratings and having 250 gear rant. If our matches were just us all capped at 216(233 in pvp) it might be better.
As well like in an ashran yesterday. A damn 700K bear was just being massive pita to handle. that would be an uber geared bear druid who we basically had to pile up on to do deal with. That is just a bit irksome. As even “normal” 233 bears can be a pita.
I dunno why people on this particular subforum parrot this all the time, but PvP has received plenty of attention in previous expansions which was often reflected in those expansions having massive PvP participation. You could maybe say that the amount of content is weighted in PvE’s favor, but it kinda has to be considering once raids are on farm for so long people are eventually going to either want something new or quit. PvPers will play the same 3 maps forever without complaining. In terms of balancing, it used to be pretty frequent in PvP, PvP got their own gearing systems and rating systems implemented.
Honestly I’m not sure what people think “focus” would look like in WoW other than what PvP got in expansions like Wrath and MoP. More maps I guess? Not that anyone actually cares about more maps, but we’ve gotten them. PvP specific talent trees and progression? We’ve had that too. We already had great reward systems, fleshed out gearing and rating systems and have had frequent PvP-specific balancing in the past. I’d say PvP got a lot of attention when it was really popular and PvPers were happy with that.
So please do explain how PvP in expansions like Wrath and MoP looks like an afterthought and what you think Blizzard would have done if it wasn’t. I’m really eager to hear this talking point that is so often repeated explained.
Most are marks of honor buys. Just not the gladiator level stuff though.
I have been buying these up a lot of late. Sadly I must admit I did not know Wrath dalaran had pvp vendors in the sewers till like last friday. learn something new everyday (I started legion but still no excuse lol).
Quite a few goodies there for me so it was shopping spree time. Rogue, hunter, dk. Druid I’d do but yeah…I run feral. its not like I’d ever really use the mogs. Balance in “ghost” glyph I’d be more about it.
They keep changing the gearing system. Took them multiple expansions to finally get WoD gearing for PvP and then they threw it in the trash and started over when they need to go back to WoD which had the best PvP gearing to date.
That is true, and actually is more evidence that they didn’t just treat PvP as an afterthought. They were constantly iterating on PvP gearing from TBC to WoD, each time getting closer to perfect. They also tried templates which were way more work for them than gearing ever was because they had to manually balance the template for every spec. BFA and SL saw regression on PvP gearing and I’d 100% agree that PvP is considered an afterthought now and for the last couple of years. But I definitely take issue with saying it has always been that way.
