As a buyer on the AH

At 199 replies I’m sure you’ve seen this response a few times but I’m buying the cheaper one because that’s the one my addons will show me. Simple as that.

“lazy” My addons do all my posting for me anyways. Items within a specified group for example [Belt of Vol’dun Greatness] will be posted based on what I’ve set (but undercut by 1 copper :stuck_out_tongue: ) but items I haven’t made a group for like [Green turnip from MoP rabbit] the prices will be pulled from a database I have nothing to do with (this is also my theory on why certain items are thousands of gold when they shouldn’t be (bfa greens)).

I am not a AH baron but it would be nice if they would bring back the auction mobile app and website app.

Tell me about it, I want to do those mobile app quests while I’m at work.

Damn could even do the tortolian quest on my phone.

I can watch more turtles not make it to the water due to seagulls and crabs spawning on my stupid turtles.

What? That seems like a pretty arbitrary line to draw. Do tell, what makes undercutting by 1c so “dumb” while 1g is just fine?

The cheapest, always

I don’t price my stuff anymore. I just let Auctionator do the undercut by I think it is set to 5%

Unless I want to move it. Then I will price it at a price that somebody can flip it at and make a little money.

As to purchasing, I look for price and stack size. If you have 20 stacks of one and they are 5 silver less than somebody selling a stack of 20 per, I will buy the stack of 20

Than you need to stop allowing so many addons in the game. It is too easy to use one of the many AH addons to quickly search for the cheapest price per item, even for those in stacks, and mass purchase them all.

Why though? I mean the seller is just trying to retain the most value while still having the lowest price.

My auction addon undercuts by a minimal amount automatically, I don’t understand the heroics about blacklisting players that undecut by 1c, that’s just punishing the smarter/quicker player, but that’s just my 2c (hehe).

I’ll say this though as someone that plays the AH some each day with decent results. Items that sell regularly, for example Quick Owlseye haste gems, have a sweet spot for pricing, at least on my server. Some AH jockeys like buying up all the cut gems and relisting and some crazy price. It takes time normally for the price to come down enough to where players are not adverse to buying.

It’s bad economics to overprice items as they do not sell nearly as quickly (not talking about start of xpac), so instead of selling 10 gems at 800 you’ll sell 2 at 2k.

If you undercut by stupid amounts, players like me just buy that stuff up or wait for the price to work itself down even more. I love it when I’m almost out of a certain mat and someone thinking they’ll make a quick buck goes and makes me a ton of gold. Win-win I guess.

Anyway, have a great weekend Kalilly, please take no offense at what I’ve said, it’s not meant to be disrespectful in any way, no doubt you’re sweet as candy!

/hugs

I ususally look for stacks with a fair unit price. I rarely buy stuff in singles, apart from the occasional gem. I’m swimming in transmog pieces so fortunately I won’t get gouged on those crazy prices.
When I sell stuff it will usually be priced to get rid of it quickly. I just want more than the vendor price - round up to the nearest 10g and mutiply by 5 or something.

Time is money friend!

I buy which one is the cheapest. I’m not going to compare prices to see if someone is being a jerk and undercutting by 1c. Even if they are, I don’re care. 1c is 1c.

I tend to buy the one that’s 500g. I just feel like if one person has 4 items for 500g, and another person has one at 499g99s99c, the former deserves the sale far more. I want to encourage that person to keep a steady stream of product on the AH.

I only buy an undercut item if it’s undercut by a number of gold. At least make an effort to undercut, imo.

I will always buy the cheaper item cause I’ll never notice how much cheaper it is.

I do the same thing but I use 7’s, like this: 77 silver and 77 copper. I like 7’s because I am from Las Vegas.

I don’t personally care. I sort items by their unit price and buy in the increments that I need. A copper less puts it above a copper more in the sort order so that’s how I buy them. I get it doesn’t make a difference, it’s just ease of buying in order.

I also almost always sell my items like that. If I would list for 500g, I will list for 499g 99s 99c. I thought it was stupid at first but figured I’d try it out and keep track for myself how things were going and then I recognized over time the sale tactic actually does seem to work, human psyche being what it is, and stuff sells better when you hack off the copper.

Since it doesn’t make a difference to profit, and it only takes a moment longer to post like that, and I get more sales… it’s worth it every time.

I’ll buy the undercut because it’s cheaper and, unless it somehow went in with all 9’s, you have to type those in, right? More effort wins in my book, lol

Some of you people put way too much thought into this.
