I would buy the one for 500 gold because the people being petty like that doesn’t deserve the gold. It would have to be more than a 2 or 3 gold difference for me to buy the cheaper one.
I always buy the cheapest one first and I actually love the people who think they’re sticking it to the man by buying an item that is slightly more expensive. In most cases that makes the seller of the cheaper item more money because they can now undercut someone who had an even higher price and still sell their item.

Due to how my addons are set up I will always buy the lowest priced item even 1c lower.
I would buy the 500 one, since I see what they did and like the round number more.
Honestly it depends on the item. If it is a single item that can stack (like an herb) I will pay even more to buy a stack just to deny the single stackers. If it was something that doesn’t stack, I would buy the cheaper one.

Well sometimes people just want to get rid of something and if you are a long time player you know some of the crap is not even worth 1/2 of what is listed.
Example: If I were trying to sell something and for whatever reason, it doesn’t sell, after about the third or fourth time I will list it WAY cheaper so I can finally get rid of it.
IF you have socks for sale at 10K and everyone else has them for 9,999 and going down, now I know the socks are NOT even worth 5K, so why not list it as 3K and finally try to get rid of it?

no you don’t have to type in all 9s - that is probably a case of less effort because someone is posting with an addon

Exactly. Raid BoE’s, mounts, and pets can all just be hit or miss. It’s not necessarily player ignorance of market value. It can be “I’ve paid a deposit to post this five times, and it hasn’t sold. I want to get rid of it.” I’ve had to do that several times. It wasn’t because I didn’t know what I had.
Sometimes, things go for huge gold for a time and then the market is no longer there. A mount that costs 80k just to make often won’t sell for more than 50k on the AH. Lots of things like that. It isn’t necessarily about ignorance or blind undercuts.

Sometimes I’ll drive it way down and buy out the ones that clearly aren’t regulars.
I sort the AH by price lowest first and buy the thing on the top of the list. I don’t look at the sellers name, how much they undercut, or anything else I just grab what I came for and head for the mailbox

Regarding OP’s question, I precisely look at the prices. I buy the one that is NOT undercut by some lousy 1 copper or silver. Sometimes I’ll even buy the item that is 10-15g more
Yes, but if everyone who posted that item undercut by a considerable amount, it would be worthless in a few weeks. Unless it is something really rare and doesn’t get posted that often.

I personally do not care. I do it myself (undercutting by 1 copper) but my addon does it and im too lazy to care to change it.
If someone else undercuts someone by 1c, I dont care either. I dont care if a bot is selling it or what the case may be. I look for what I want for the cheapest price and buy it regardless.
