I don’t understand what are you trying to say. Or perhaps you didn’t understand what I meant by undercutting your 8k item by 1c.
Certainly more people will come and post as at any other time/price, but when I actively drive down the market with you and then gouge it up, I not only gain in net item value, but also gold.
You win a short term battle, but I always win the war. That is the point I’m trying to make.
Also I already answered to your “cost of crafting” in my first paragraph. You drive the raw mat price up along with the items you are selling so people can’t just buy cheap materials and make armor for ez profit.
Unless I am not paying attention, I buy the first one. When I see people undercutting 1c I rather buy the item from the player not trying extra hard to sell its stuff.
What I’m getting from you is that you will sell the mats, I buy the mats and craft the gear.
Then you buy the gear and resell back to to the old value
I’m saying I just buy the mats again and craft more.
In the end you have a lot of stock and I’ve made profit on every item I made and can continue doing it until mats get too high.
The mats drop a ton faster than the time you sell your stock, so you will lose out.

It depends on the server - that guy is on Area 52. On my server someone tried that at the start of the patch with the 340 gear and they are still trying to sell those pieces two months later.

Let’s say right now I put up an item for 25k.
The materials to make it are 1.5k
You buy enough materials to make 3x8k items.
You undercut me.
This is what I do first: I buy out the ENTIRE MATERIAL MARKET making it so the cost to make it is significantly higher than 25k.
Then I repost the materials at such a large price that it costs more than 25k to make the item.
Then I buy out your items that you posted 3x8k.
What are you going to do now?
The materials are too high to buy them out.
You can use your own materials and undercut me, in which case I’d make a decision to either buy you out or undercut you.

This is very true.
You have to judge and be smart about the markets you want to corner/dominate.
They tried that, I had already bought a bunch of mats, I would farm the mats also.
In the end I only have to list a few at a time until others start to list.
You will have a ton of stock that in your mind is worth 25k and now is only worth 8k.
Then we just play the undercut game, in which you keep grossly undercutting and I keep buying you out.

You do tempt me to make a few characters on that server though if your competition is such they let you get away with that.

Most amateurs don’t know how to make their operations useful.
If you are sitting there snagging everyone who undercuts you, you can’t do that in 15 minutes.
Yes you can, you set up a shopping option and run it every time you post basically.
Edit: if you mean camping AH all day then no.
Yeah you can catch everyone who has an undercut under you that hasn’t been bought already. But if they post it 3 seconds after you do your shopping scan you missed it. If you are trying to set a market price on most things just checking it a couple times a day isn’t going to be sufficient to catch undercuts and drive the price up.

But, you also have to count in primetime and days at which you are posting what.
There are patterns to which you get accustomed to and profit off of. To say goldmaking is only based on undercut/buyout is inaccurate.
There’s a lot of factors coming into this, not just scanning the AH. If I camped the AH 24/7 then I’d be only one making gold. That’s hilarious and impossible.
