Arms War Pvp Help

Posted this over in the warrior forums but no hits yet. Thought i may find a more relevant group here.

Hi everyone,

Ive been wanting to get into pvp more in wotlk classic as an arms warrior but I am objectively trash and mediocre at my best. This is level 80 pvp.

My biggest problem comes against other plate wearers. Paladins, Death knights, and other warriors. I get dps’d down pretty hard while feeling like I hit like a wet noodle.

Im still gearing with honor gear so my resiliance isnt as high as it could be but im confident its more of a skill issue because i had the same issues in lower brackets as well.

Do you have any tips for openers and sustaining damage?

Warrior is super gear dependent, the most of any class. I got a war 80 this season and it is very noticeable how your damage jumps when you get a weapon, I got the 1800 one then the 2k one but started with deadly and its like you said a wet noodle.

Keep rend up always, sunder stack your target if plate. Make sure rend, hammy, and a fresh mortal strike are up before you bladestorm(time with your runestone proc if u have the trinket from farming 5mans).

In low gear youll have to pool rage to make sure mortal strike is always up. If MS falls off they get instantly topped off if they have heals, so dont let MS fall. Some targets like rogue/feral dodge a lot, use charge/intercept stun to get your MS guaranteed.

Unrelenting assault is really important if you go heals (also helps vs dps casters). Your overpower, while they are casting, reduces healing by an extra 25% (thats 75% with MS) so if you’re killing them save overpowers for casts and you’ll put them way behind. For caster dps if you overpower their casts it reduces their dmg by 50%.

Just some tips, GL

Also, as far as defense goes, space out your retaliate + shield wall for times your healer eats CC. Use it high enough to matter & buy time. Shield slam can dispel magic. Uhh shield block is rly good as well. You can still keep up MS + rend in D stance while blocking & spamming revenge.

A great opener is disarm, it’s quick and reliable and unless you’re playing a pro they will probably run from you and give you their back. Shattering throw on Pally bubbles works good too. Fear bombs, hamstrings anything to slow, stun or incapacitate. Then make sure you are always popping trinkets and CDs on the same macro.
