Arms feels incredibly smooth on ptr

  • Arms feels incredibly smooth on ptr.
  • Being able to take 3 bottom tier arms abilities is incredible.
  • Ignore pain is great even though the “absorb” is only 50% dr @ up to ~50k dmg absorbed, it fits great with extra rage that we usually have with no meaningful buttons to press.
  • Battlelord extra 10% chance is noticeable, much smoother
  • Fatal mark duration increase is pretty unnecessary, but it is good when matches go longer than a minute or two.
  • overpower sustain dmg is actually higher than auto attacks now
  • There’s actually lots of choices you can make now instead of being forced into 1 build with the talent points shuffling
  • fatality with executioners precision both being able to be talented feels great, an extra burst to finish off targets in execute range.
  • losing 1 % versatility and 5% mortal strike damage for the overall utility and sustained pressure we are gaining is definitely worth it with the talent shuffling.

Overall arms feels much more fluent and less frustrating. This was a very successful tuning pass, good job blizz.

The only other thing we could ask for to make arms more smooth would be removing sweeping strikes off the GCD like it used to be.

what a silly change. overpower adding an avg of 5k dmg to the next ms was fine to bring its per-gcd contribution up over an unbuffed ms, which is all it competed with almost all of the time

I imagine the change was to shift some of the damage off our burst without nerfing our overall damage.
The silly thing about arms right now is that most of our damage just comes from building up big MS crits.

Avatar Spear Warbreaker Bladestorm?

for that to be the case, ms damage would have to be going down somewhere in compensation for overpower going up. i just skimmed the notes-am i missing it or is that not happening?

And hamstring.

Also rend does no damage which doesnt feel good.

Bladestorm does about as much damage in 5.5 seconds as 2 mortal strikes, not accounting for MS cooldown resets. Without the unhinged talent that gives you… MORE MORTAL STRIKES, nobody is using bladestorm for the damage. You also can’t use other offensive abilities while it’s active.

Warbreaker is a damage modifier. Its’ purpose is to buff big MS crits. The direct damage from warbreaker is not why people are using it.
Avatar is also just a modifier for big MS crits.

Spear damage can be significant depending on how you spec. So yes. Every one and a half minutes, it does about 2 unbuffed mortal strikes worth of damage to help our burst window, as well as modify our crit chance if we’re talented for… wait for it… more big mortal strike crits.

They are removing a talent that adds crit chance and damage to mortal strike, and replacing it with one that buffs overpower damage.

TBH they could just make mortal strike or overpower refresh hamstring at this point.
Rend really does need to do more damage. idk why they are afraid of rend being worth a GCD unless you build your entire spec around bleeds.

they removed improved mortal strike. -5% base ms dmg. removed 1% versa from a talent, overall 6% less dmg done

did they add back second wind from MOP or do we still have the horrible second wind from slands? when i have time gonna level up my warrior in a few weeks

We have poopy second wind that’s only good for questing and casual BGs.
What we really need is WOTLK second wind, the only well designed instance of the ability.
Get rid of our on demand instant self healing.

Then again, the whole point of original second wind was to help warriors deal with being such an easily locked down class, so when the CC chain finally ended you came back with a full rage bar and full health to unleash the reckoning of a lifetime. Now we have infinite rage and are far less susceptible to CC, so maybe it wouldn’t really make sense.
idk man, the class design has really taken a nose dive.

Not sure about hamstring being off GCD, but SS absolutely should be.

Arms needs a nerf already

we dont have rage problems anymore tho, so that doesnt matter
