This gear is useless on this character unless I can use it as transmog and I want to clear my bags, but it’s not showing up in tmog choices and I am afraid to delete the pieces. This applies to all the new Icecrown purples and the blues (the Argent set).
Is the refund timer expired?
If not, that could be why it’s not available due xmog.
The refund timer goes away as soon as you equip it, I noticed, but there are a lot of issues with this otherwise. Here is my experience from another thread.
Transmogging the piece, depositing it into void storage, or setting the “set” as a fav in your wardrobe collection should clear any remaining refund timer and allow the piece to become available to your other characters.
Please check out my post from above which details that not all these methods work for all pieces. It’s very wonky and not acting typically as other transmog would. Usually these methods you suggest work for me. Thanks!
That would be the clue for you to file a bug report.
I will provide one in-game. I’ve been commenting on the slew of other bug reports where people are also saying the solutions are providing mixed results, as well, so it’s definitely not just me. I didn’t realize this one was not a “bug report” thread.
Just to point it out, the blue posters don’t reply to threads outside of the CS forum. More to the point, the bug reports forum is just that - reporting bugs. The devs only comment there if they need more info.
Ok thanks for the info. I just thought it would be helpful to point out that the workarounds provided in this thread were not working for several people. I am replying to any post where people are having this same issue regardless of the category.
For anyone finding this thread and having the same issue, I posted some additional info elsewhere on a bug report

I noticed the same thing. Putting the items in void storage and then taking them back out seemed to work around the problem for me.
However, I think there is a bigger problem here. The software displayed the message “[item] has been added to your appearance collection” when that was NOT the case. Now I wonder how widespread this problem is and if I can ever trust that message. Am I going to have to double-check every time I add an appearance to my collection? The software should only tell the user something happened if it has, in fact, happened.
