Mmmk, you do realize you don’t have to do this 20+ toons a day thing. It’s you that’s disrespecting your own time, wasting hours of it for an intangible reward of pixels that you are destined to lose forever the fateful day the game finally shuts down.
I’m still staring at the assertion that Blizzard is making people grind 20+ toons a day. I have 13 alts currently–one for each class and I can’t imagine the need for 20+.
Also, I’m wondering the OP feels about the content that is locked behind high keys, mythic raiding and high end pvp? Does that bother you as much as the pet? I’m simply curious, not pushing an agenda.
The amount of disassociation some of you guys have is astounding.
No self responsibility.
You guys are consumers, you want change then you vote with your wallets but it doesn’t look like you’re the type to do that. I’m fact you’re doing the opposite by running 100+ alts daily and playing more than anyone.
You are “disrespecting” you’re own time.
And it’s kind of hilarious to watch you do so.
I guess I’m not seeing the difference between this and any other rare drop mount. There have been plenty of bosses that drop extremely rare mounts. The drop percentage is usually super low.
One might even go as far as to say that only having to kill a boss, and having a daily attempt at it makes this mount/pet significantly easier to get than as a raider. Why? Because a raider gets 3 chances a week–1 for normal, heroic & mythic and the the headless horseman fight can be run daily.
One last question: does this really count as grinding? It’s just queueing for a 5 minute fight that everyone is doing. When I think of grinding I think of killing mobs over and over for some quest/mechanic/event. Not so much once a day.
It’s YOUR choice to grind, it’s not a requirement.
The point of low drop rates is to keep people playing, you know like this player said…
You’re doing exactly what the time played metric spreadsheet writers want you to do, just stop.
Play the parts of the game you enjoy, when you’re done, log off. If the metrics show decline, that’s when Blizzard will consider changes. It’s so simple.
Having Arfus, the mount, and the saddle available on a vendor for high amounts of candy is a great idea. Players can choose to work towards it and will still queue, especially if the “loot-filled pumpkin” (lol at that - one mask isn’t “loot”) drops more candy.
Or what about bad luck protection? Every time you run the dungeon, you get a very slightly increased drop chance.
Either way, the people who really want these things can work towards them in a way other than “smash your face into the wall and hope the RNG is in your favor (but we know it isn’t).”
I agree. I love dogs. I adopted a dog quite some time back. But this slot machine RNG system really destroys the fun out of it. It’s not a rewarding experience.
I wish Ion would retire and let someone else be a game director. I’m tired of Ion going out of his way to destroy every ounce of fun this game has. He spends more time destroying fun then making the game fun.
Best comment here. We’ve lost so many being in rescue. Having Arfus (as well as all the other dogs in WoW) helps just a little bit…
The “this is what we’re introducing but you’re not gonna get it THIS YEAR unless you’re EXTREMELY LUCKY” is disappointing and disheartening. Frankly, RNG should not even play a role in holiday events. I get it on stuff that can be run all year but nobody is promised tomorrow, much less next year.
The truth is that the “disrespect player’s time” thing is just buzz language being used by people in an attempt to make an emotionally manipulative appeal to get their way.
Currently 27 min 45 sec waiting in queue. I’ve seen average wait time bounce between 8 and 15 minutes. I’m on a DPS alt, so I can’t even speed that up.
Grinding for rare drops is ummm character building??
When the emotion you feel on getting some neat thing is relief that you won’t have to do that again rather than pleasure at getting a new thing, then that activity was fun? Right? I mean, look at all of the engagement metrics they produce. /s
This is my main gripe with the system. If I didn’t have to spend 30+mins in queue on the handful of dps characters I have (I run 2 tanks 7 healers and 5 dps) it would be a lot easier to swallow the fact that I’ll never get the pet anyway. The wasted time is frustrating.
I’m curious if it will become available on the trading post next month, completely laughing in the face of our efforts.
I mean, look what they did with Sha. Why not, right?
