Arena changes no one asked for

Blizz most of your changes so far atleast seem to be majority favored or 50/50 at worst. This arena change is extremely unliked and most would probably be ok if you kept it as it was (no requirement until s3).

Just scrap it and keep riding the momentum because this kills it.

Exactly.

Not one person asked for this, and it’s a change that greatly alters arena and makes it more retail-like. I hope Blizzard remembers they’re supposed to emulate TBC with some leeway for changes if the subject at hand is very flawed or broken. The original system is not either of those, and nobody said it was.

What blizzard expects this change to do:

  • fair matches
  • Consistent seasons
  • rewards for pushing rating

What it ACTUALLY does:

  • discourages PvE players from playing arena
  • shakes up many classes’ BiS lists for PvE
  • heavily encourages boosts, gold buying, and win trading
  • Makes it impossibly hard for all but the best of the best to rank due to tiny pool of players that will actually do arena

The only change from all the Arena changes that I’m okay with is the addition of MMR.

Will make it so if high rated players make a new team they don’t spend the first 20 matches or however long it takes steam rolling 1600 teams. But like you said that something I have not seen a single person ask for.

All the other changes are really dumb and hurt Arenas more then helps them.

Agreed. Remove the stupid rating for S1 and S2.

with the amount of gold players have (or willing to “Get”) boosting in arena will happen anyways,. We cant stop it.

Terrible change. Will greatly decrease the player base playing arena

Killing casual pvp engagement is going to ruin the feel of arena for low skill and high skill players alike. A smaller player pool is just plain unhealthy, and with this change casual players have no incentive to step foot in arena.

Yeah I was on the fence about tbc. This just makes it even less enticing.

We ask for some QoL changes, not a rework of the game systems.

PvE players who didnt want to do arena or who were just going to stand there and lose 10 games a week for rating are not a boon to Arnea system in any way.

Oh no PvE players have to get Pve Gear how horrible!

No they really were a boon. They fed higher ranked teams. If the pool is only 2k players, guess what? Most of them get nothing. This is why the rating requirements were scrapped in Cata. No one was playing and arena was dying.

Essentially this is the Season 4 TBC gearing with Wrath/Cata MMR system.

I think this is due to phases of classic TBC.

Season 1 ended right around the time Black temple was first cleared so if you think about the arena gear Ilvls they were quite a bit lower then the T5/6 sets that were out. Each season in TBC was around a full tier behind PvE tiers until season 4.

I think they don’t want to “devalue” PvE tiers in classic as each season will run concurrently to its respective PvP season tier.

I don’t really like the rating on chest pants and helm, keeping it the same as it was with Weap/shoulders would have been ok.

I’m speaking from casual pvp side.

Yea I was hoping to get my arena season 1 gear by just not being a try hard. Same with my season 2 gear. I never liked arenas and I just want to casual pvp in normal bgs.

Do I dislike this change? Yes I think it’s the worst one they put out. I’m sad to see this change happen. As it changes how the 1st part of tbc works for both pvp and pve.

However I did see this change coming. Do I want to reverted yes I do. Normally I don’t care for the QQ on the general threads. So for the 1st time In a while I’m here to say

Blizzard you messed up.

Edit: again I saw this coming I’m upset about it. We all knew is was a way to get gear easy. It’s why pvp gear was called “welfare epics” back in the day. I want blizzard to change it back for my own selfish reasons. I get why it was added and I do think it’s fits “some changes” as it puts season 1 and 2 in same setup as 3 and 4. Doesn’t mean it’s a good change.

To me this feels like a punch to the gut, but again one I was prepared for.

what changes are you referring to?

Same, I was going to do some arena on the side and see how well I did. I’m not stepping into the arena with these changes it’s just not worth it to me if in order to get season 1 gear I need high ratings which will put me at a massive disadvantage in later seasons

Changes make it more like retail
There is a reason people who love classic dont like retail blizzard

rating requirements for gear
and starting at 0 instead of 1500

they always had rating requirements.
0-1500 isnt a big deal anyways and it actually makes gearing easier.

Why take a widely hated change from current retail PVP and ruin TBC with it?

It doesn’t work for either game.
