Not by choice, by unfortunate lack of results through interviews. August I was in japan, on vacation, got a call from military. my appeal on mental health cleared after a year of waiting, i’m clear to re-do my medical, and another interview.
Interview goes well, medical going well, real life happens and now I can’t pass mental health lol.
So I’m job hunting and covid hits.
Didn’t earn enough last year as a student to qualify for EI. back at moms. this is the life. ugh.
Really hard to get an interview for unskilled work during covid. At least in my experience so far. Lots of ‘thanks for your interest.’ and ‘unfortunately all of our openings have closed due to the ongoing…’
Been working from home for around a couple of months at this point. Easy to do with software dev.
Took this week off to try to de-stress a bit though.
I finally got back to working some but it isn’t from home. What I do relies on people traveling so it’s been nothing for over two months now. People are starting to go places again but it’s very light. I’m not quite making enough to cover my bills yet.
I’m in the exact same boat. I’ve been farmed out to help one of our other facilities at 50% of my time. I got furloughed before the pandemic because of the 737 max for a week. I’m slated for another one this quarter and in the 3rd quarter. I still have a job though so I can’t complain other than the looming thought of being unemployed after over 20 years at the same place. 911 wasn’t this hard on our industry.
Working. Too much. They just took our days off away to boot.

I’ve been working all through this, I can tell you that people have not been staying home, at least not iny state. I had two slow days when all of this started. My company did not provide masks or hand sanitizer until three weeks ago. I do use hand sanitizer when I need to, I don’t bother with masks, what’s the point now.
I am always considered essential my love, for I have too much delight to give.
Something about used hot dog buns and wet tentacles, yeah?
Only on the first date. I am a gentleman, after all.

Never had breathing problems before in my life, and it started after we had customers bragging about needing stuff to do in self-isolation, so… yeah. It was pretty freakin’ scary.
I got inhalers after a month and a half and it cleared up within a week though, so.
We don’t think it was COVID but we’ll never actually know, and considering inhalers fixed it, I don’t think it was. (…still coughing a bit though.)
My job used to be office based but they told us we will be working from home until at least December.
At work on my lunchbreak now. High clearance job so I don’t think they’d save much money letting me or my group go.
1/2 the office is working from home, I choose to stay at work (I am more efficient at work).
until at least December.
Oh my god. December? You might be spending a year WFH.

I’m glad the inhalers helped. If it wasn’t COVID-19, I hope you don’t get it in the state that bronchitis put you in.
I am basically always working.
Been working from home since April. LOVE it.
I worked in IT in the restaurant industry, then covid ripped to shreds that industry and I was laid off. Was unemployed for about 2 months looking for work, now I work at a managed service provider.
I work full-time, no shut down, tons of annoying and unnecessary extra procedures as decreed by the government. All I got was an extra dollar raise because cost of living would increase due to generous handouts to everyone else.
Unemployed since November last year (6 months) finally got a new job (a good paying one it was too), and then subsequently quit in 4 days because the manager was such a dishonest pathological liar (told me they had 2 other employees for the position when they only had one part time, so doing the job of three people right off the bat) and secretly cut my salary by 5 dollars an hour without bothering to tell me (which made it LESS than minimum wage by the way)…
I’m an ER doctor. Ironically many doctors were let go at a lot of hospitals due to a drop in volumes. I’m sure it will pick back up. I thankfully have been unaffected.
