Are you in a hurry to leave the Shadowlands?

I was just watching a speculation video on the future of Warcraft.

The host said that a 9.3 patch was unlikely if Blizzard hopes to keep its 2-year expansion cadence going.

Which got me thinking; do you want a 9.3 or are you in a rush to get into 10.0?

I’m of the mentality of, “Better the devil you know, than the devil you don’t know.” (I’m suspicious that 10.0 will introduce new and dumb, convoluted systems)

Pretty much agree. We’ve had two dogs in a row. Why would anyone have confidence in the next attempt?

While I’m not optimistic with Ion running dev I’ll certainly give it a look . But this is the 3rd strike potentially. They don’t do something great with 10.0 it may be time to close this chapter of game life.

I’m ready to leave Shadowlands and not look back.

That said development takes time and all this stuff is planned out well ahead I think.

So rushing to the next expansion which isn’t even near to ready isn’t really an option either. Especially when you figure that they are probably doing a whole lot of reevaluation of how they want to do things in future expansions.

To me the best option is let the next expansion develop fairly normally and do as much as possible to fix this one and make it more tolerable in the mean time.

hmmm thats a good question,

i mean we can look at it from two points of view
the first is the devil we know and i agree, a great way of thinking.
but also we need to remember this is a service.

ideally they want to keep us entertained.
i dont think its the players job to provide pressure on the product.
if the product is fault the customer should move on, that being said many of us are invested because this game is part of our childhood.

i personaly hope for a balance.

also sorry for grammer is bad. ESL

Undecided. SL has now officially slipped below BfA for me as an xpac. Only WoD was worse for me (although I can hate on Cata sometimes if I’m in the right/wrong mood).

I have no desire to finish this inane storyline we have going. I almost want Blizzard to pull a “Dallas” and have Bobby Ewing step out of the shower and tell his wife it was all a dream.

Having said that, just because you cut 9.x off short, doesn’t mean 10.0 is ready to go, nor does it mean 10.0 is going to be any better. I suspect a lot of predevelopment work had been done on 10.0 before Blizzard’s world fell apart, so 10.0 was probably pre-engineered to use the same systems as BfA and SL, given that the dev teams were/are the same.

Furthermore, put me in the camp that has no confidence in Blizzard to navigate the troubles it is currently dealing with. To the point that for the first time since WoD, I’m seriously considering moving onto something else. The content changes that are being made right now are by themselves, benign – but they point to the possible future direction for storylines and general tenor of the content. Basically, this is a High Fantasy genre game, and I come here and pay money for escapism, not to try to solve the world’s problems. So if there’s a chance WoW decides to get too analogous to current events, I’m probably going to walk, and this time won’t return. It doesn’t really matter whether the changes are “good” or “bad,” but rather that the franchise seems to be losing the plot altogether. Right now, it just feels like there’s a storm approaching and we don’t know how bad it’s going to be yet. The next 12 months are critical to WoW’s ultimate survival and I’m not optimistic.

No.
Not yet.
Don’t need another reset of borrowed power.
I want to enjoy some relaxing content drought for a while.

I hope so, I cannot wait to leave SL behind. I hate this XP.

With the exception of some mounts, there is hardly anything positive about SL. The lack of content, the ongoing loot drought and systems like shards or covenants feel like an invitation leave and never play again.

No. I’m not in a hurry.

I like to play video games.

I’m probably going to do what I normally do and continue playing in the previous expansions. At least two expansions have been gifted to me by friends and one I’ve waited for the price to go down.

So yeah, I’m in no rush for a patch nor a new expansion. I’m happy doing my own thing either way.

I’m happy to keep paying for a subscription but continuing to pay for both a sub and expansion after expansion starts to add up after a while - I’d pay via tokens but I’m not an expert at making gold and I like to play leisurely and at my own pace, not play to be able to afford the game.

But that’s just me and it doesn’t necessarily reflect the majority’s opinions.

I’d be happy if Shadowlands was cut short. I don’t care for the story and game play has been a great big bleh. This is the first expansion where I’ve had no desire to log in. I may have despised the story in BfA, but there was so much I liked. The art, zones, NPCs, various cities. It all added up to something I wanted to do. I even loved Island Expeditions and Warfronts. The game felt immersive. If the next expansion doesn’t come sooner it won’t put me off, however. I’ll wait and see. I have a friend who plays on a regular basis and he gives me that interest to play. Will just have to see if that’s enough when we see what’s in store for us in the future.

This definitely got a Like from me. For me I’ve thought of the Newhart ending. lol

I am actually staying, in other words, I have an interest in purchasing any new expansion.

I’m in no rush for 10.0 to come along and I’m sick of their 2 year expansion plan.

A LOT of the problems we are facing in modern WoW development is due to them rushing their product to meet corporate deadlines. I’d rather just wait for a finished product instead of this mess of: release unfinished expansion → patch over 2 years → get 6 months to enjoy a finished game → new expansion comes along.

“You should start wearing sweaters.”

I would love it if Shadowlands was nothing more than an N’zoth-inflicted fever dream.

No I am in a hurry for them to get their collective heads out of their asses and get back to just making a solid game.

Not really. In fact I wish I could play it more but playing tbc and retail is too cumbersome.

I’m tired of Shadowlands. I’m wary of 10.0.

next expansion is just gonna be some super massive god that we need to kill before it destroys all of azeroth again. Honestly its getting pretty old at this point and i think i’m just gonna go chop trees down in new world

I’ve already left the Shadowlands. WoW would really need to pump out a truly incredible expansion in order for me to leave FFXIV at this point.

With them doubling down on horrible systems like M+, coupled with an atrocious story and a god awful community…. I’m not having high hopes.

Don’t even care man. If they keep the systems as they are, it doesn’t matter what expac we are in.
