Are WoW season's to long?

Season 1 of War Within started on September 10th. We are now about 4 ish months into this season with season 2 still at least 2 months away. That will put season 1 lasting about 6 months. Are WoW season’s to long? I personally think so.

Based on the past it seems to me that 5-6+ months is the typical length of a season. I think they really should change things up and push out new stuff way faster and season’s are much shorter so we don’t have these long content droughts. What do you guys think? do you like the current pace of things or would you want things shorter?

I’m fine with seasons being spread out, especially the first season of an expansion.

There should not be seasons at all. The expansion should launch, and then you play the expansion and then they add content. More raids, dungeons, etc.

WoW died when they tried to make it a seasonal E Sport with all these goofy nonsense things thrown in.

Just make the game good.

Its hard for me to say… if getting alts up to speed was better I wouldn’t mind it. The events help.

I don’t think so. Still having fun in m+ and getting alts up and going to dip my toes into pvp more too!

Kind of like seasons

No? No seasons. Just content. A new dungeon is not a “season” nor is a new raid. Just let the game be the game and exist as the expansion. I don’t want to play the patch, I want to play the game.

I only PvP so the length of a season doesn’t really matter to me I’m going to be doing the exact same thing in every season with little to no new content outside of expansion launches longer seasons just means I can get more elite sets

The problem isn’t the season is too long, all developers of games in the industry MUST deal with the fact that it is inevitable that however much time as you have to make and publish content, it will take exponentially less of a fragment of the time for a player consumer to fully consume it naturally.

Let’s say it takes 2 years pers expansion? At 3 patches? Used to be 4 major ones?

that’s 121 days per expansion to make a patch, with a minor one like the anniversary and Siren Isles lasting maybe half of that together for two minor patches.

QUALITY of content over quantity is what they need, and in an MMORPG quality means content that encourages people to be together and be creative and make their own content from said community.

On these grounds… they have failed as MMORPG developers for the most part up until the last expansion or so. They’re limiting themselves in that regard.

This season has felt incredibly long and drawn out but i think thats because i went into it with expectations of Delves being a seasonal journey.

Reality was i cleared T9s after the first reset and i felt complete way too early.

M+ and Raid players likely feel different though.

This is the biggest part of the problem, what you just described in Delves is the raid/M+ experience just with a group.

The content doesn’t last more than a month, and that’s when they make raids accounting for addons and with added artificially inflated mechanics to account for said addons.

Raids, M+, and now Delves… simply do not give people stuff to do for long enough without being artificial gated and prolonged, which in itself produces equal boredom as not having anything to do at all.

It’s too routine with no innovation, no real player agency or control/input.

Not for me. I work and play other crap.

Even before seasons though, you played the patch. Back in vanilla, after BWL came out, you didn’t gear up in MC anymore. When AQ was released, you didn’t gear up in BWL anymore.

There shouldn’t be seasons

Then you describe what it should be. Which is seasons

Seasons is just the new term for “raid tier”.

Uh, no? Simply wrong.

That’s what I did. Why would I want to go to BWL for gear when AQ had better gear?

In TBC, why would you raid for T4 gear when T5 or T6 gear was available?

I think at least 6 months, though I wouldn’t complain about 9. Gives more casual players time to get stuff done.

If anything they are too short. If a season ends before people get their goals then that’s that. If a season goes longer than you want it to it’s just a matter of taking a break.

DF was nearly two years long and had 4 seasons or ~6 months per season

if TWW will only be 18 months, then we are likely to have ~5 month seasons, if there will be four of them
