Are we going to get rid of the trivial 30% range?

It was cute at first, but preservation doesn’t have the throughput to even warrant that kind of range. Forcing groups to play a certain way and have to keep in mind my range is a terrible experience.

Inb4 a certain someone comes in to post that it is a skill issue and that you are to blame for being bad.

I agree with you, however. Give evokers 40 yard range. It just leads to less people playing the class, aside from mog reasons, and that’s certainly a bad thing.

should we add more range to a healer if that healer is not first?

And should we get rid of spells like efflorescence and healing rain?

Getting ahead of an argument doesn’t invalidate an argument (especially one that’s correct).

Pres throughput is actually ridiculous. Not sure what you mean.

The mobility makes it pretty easy to get in place for the shorter range spells.

They just got a throughout buff recently to give them extra due to the range, as well lol.

They found this post quick. Prepare for 3 days of watching them assert their opinion is correct and you’re bad for disagreeing.

So many “View 1 Hidden Reply” on this post. I must have triggered some people.

Oh look, another one to add to the list. LOL

If you want to have civilized discussion, I’m all for it. If you want to argue, go look in a mirror.

No, you’re just bad because you green parse on Aug with orange parsers to buff.

You can have whatever opinion you want and it won’t change that.

Sure thing–why don’t you lay out all of the actual data you have that proves that the current range doesn’t work?

Oh wait, there isn’t any besides the echo chamber tears of bad players that can’t play the class.

If you’re simply going to echo what you already think then there’s is nothing to discuss. However, if you do want to listen, there’s wowhead post made by a Limit player saying that 25-30 range does not work b/c the raid fights are no longer taking it into account. There are Youtube videos that reiterate these points.

Yet, you and the rest of your kin are so dead set on saying “player bad,” “skill issue,” “get better,” and the like as a way to justify your own opinions.

Just because you can walk a mile barefooted does not mean it is great idea. You have a great rest of your day/night, “VIEW 1 HIDDEN REPLY.”

Are you talking about the preheat article where he uses an intentionally misleading chart about casting while moving uptime that doesn’t even include hover usage so it looks like we’re second to worst?

If not, I’m interested in seeing the other article you’re citing, because I don’t see another one.

We are getting an insane buff to mobility across all hero specs for evoker next expansion (as well as spatial paradox for all, which preheat also mentioned all specs needing in the article), that trivialize a lot of the points written there.

Most of the people complaining that the range doesn’t work are not even raiding mythic (let alone the later bosses that are specifically mentioned), so how does this apply to their struggles when we could have melee range in lfr/normal/heroic and still perform well?

If you were walking a mile barefoot vs everyone else wearing shoes, and you still outperformed most of them, you didn’t need shoes to be viable. This metaphor doesn’t apply here, in all fairness, because we aren’t struggling versus other classes with "shoes ".

I don’t approve of Limecat’s methods/rhetoric, but the fact remains that one opinion piece on wowhead doesn’t disprove the mountains of evidence that evoker has performed well all expansion.

I don’t speak for preservation at a high end because I’m not qualified to do so, but the DPS specs absolutely do not need more range.

As someone who has played Prevoker the entire expansion the range isn’t great and it’s made worse when you try and play big blooms. And before someone comes in telling me I’m doing it wrong. First I don’t care I play for my account ill play how I want with what spec I want. When you pay for my account you can tell me how I’m doing it wrong. I still say make living flame castable on the move without hover. We are limited in out mobility as it currently stands and it feels not great compared to other healers.

Question at this point is… do I want to play with a handicap? Does evoker bring anything that would be worth it… hps/utlity? Nothing mind blowing, other healers are currently just better and don’t require babysitting. I dig the lore but it’s not enough and gonna shelf it.

Spatial paradox alone will answer this question next expansion.

For now, I expressly stated I was talking about the DPS specs, where the range has much less effect on them.

Instantly proving my point haha.

Yeah I green parse in raid with some good players to buff. Notably, a few good players does not an orange Aug make. I am also our raid leader, and don’t get the luxury of focusing only on my dps output when we prog.

However, EVEN IF that was not the case, this whole conversation is an expression of how the range feels to players and the consequences that are unique to Evoker due to it. Pretending that your opinion on how something feels subjectively is better than someone else’s is ridiculous. Further, espousing others are objectively wrong for feeling the way they do about the range shows how meaningless your feedback is. It’s not a contribution worth considering when it’s just an invalidation of other peoples opinions.

That’s all coming from an Evoker who doesn’t mind the range. I manage just fine as is, and would be happy with an adjustment or not. I maintain uptime well-enough, perform well-enough, and while your opinion and likely that of Arcane’s is such that I am also just bad for “green parsing with orange parsers to buff”, that is fortunately both not a counter to the argument anyone is making nor is it an effective argument in its own right. But I am sure y’all would not care, and would prefer to demean my thoughts as well for being ONLY 7/9 Mythic, or some other ridiculous and elitist argument.

This will be my only response in this matter. I have absolutely no further interest engaging with to dishonest, elitist actors. Hopefully others will also see how meaningless it is to engage either of you and ignore you as well.

I think it’s fairly obvious my response doesn’t deserve to be grouped with theirs, lol.

To be fair, in many of the seemingly hundreds of threads that people have had to make on the topic, I have never told anyone they were wrong for not liking the range, but that they are incorrect in thinking it needs to be changed just because they don’t like it.

What I have maintained is that we have the tools to perform very well and that if people are struggling with the range, there are likely things they are doing/not doing that are exacerbating those struggles. Saying “I don’t like this playstyle” is a far cry from most of these posts that say the range “doesn’t work” or was a “failed experiment” (because it clearly has worked and didn’t fail).

My proposed solution has been a choice node between hover and 40yd range in the class tree, as getting 15 more yards of range will need to come with a mobility or DPS trade-off.

People are very entitled to not like the range; that doesn’t mean that people that like it/perform well with it should be punished by a universally watered down spec because other people struggle with it. I didn’t like playing dk because I enjoy mobility–that doesn’t mean that they need more mobility, it just means that the class isn’t for me and there’s tons of other options.

Given the 5 yard range extension talent that Aug had replace spatial paradox for their friendly spells, that’s obviously not something blizz is considering.

I have zero problem with people getting what they want, so long as it doesn’t ruin a playstyle that others already enjoy as a result.

I don’t think that’s unreasonable.

I am not a super fancy evoker player but I did move my evoker up to my second healer slot this season and o am loving it! Only time it feels gimped for me is nymue. I constantly have to tell myself not to verdant embrace people or I might die to the dumb by crossing too many lines.

For situations like that where people are all spread out, I ask blizzard to add a new ability where you basically twirl and breathe/raspberry as you twirl your healing love so everyone around you gets healed. That would be epic! No need to increase range either. Would even be ok if that ability was 20 yards from YOU and essentially you get the 40 yard increase for a time. Though that might make evokers too crazy OP.

Its cute because you think it’s solely a skill issue for why one would think having this range is bad. It has nothing to do with skill and everything to do with it just feeling bad to play. Have you played preservation extensively? If you have, I guarantee you’re among every other prevoker that despises having 3 ranged DPS in an M+ key and constantly having to play a game herding sheep and making sure they’re within range and between the mobs and you at all times.

Fights like the storm boss in Nokhud are an absolute nightmare. You have to play on top of the boss at all times and force all of the other dps to also play on top of the boss which gimps them out of getting orbs efficiently and even missing some. Oh you went out of range grabbing an orb on the storm phase when my spiritbloom went off and therefore didn’t hit you? Guess you’re dead.

After doing keys on a prevoker for 4 seasons with this range and having to deal with these scenarios hundreds of time it feels absolutely trash. Plain and simple. Nothing to do with skill and ONLY how it feels. Once again, this class does not have some extreme throughput like they had in season 1 that warranted having that range to begin with. There is no “trade-off”. You’re just gimping the class for… what?

You ask for actual data that proves the current range doesn’t work; once again, its not that it doesn’t “work” its that it feels trash in the way it works. Hopefully you dont struggle to understand that concept. How about this; why dont you lay out all of the actual data you have that proves that the current range is necessary? Is there any data that proves why it even exists? What is the purpose? Yet you’ve had every prevoker complain about the range every single season at some point. It doesn’t feel good. Get a grip, kiddo. Maybe you want to feel better about yourself like you’re “good” and everyone that holds this view is “bad” but that isn’t the case.

Just wanted to echo (haha, get it?) everything stated here.

I’ve played prevoker pretty extensively as my main for 3/4 seasons in DF. The range limitation is a serious hassle, no other way to put it. It’s especially notable in m+ compared to raid, sure. But those limitations in m+ are just a nightmare to deal with.

The prevoker kit requires your teammates to basically stand in a neat little blob in front of you so you can hit them with your major spells like Dream Breath and Temporal Anomaly. If they aren’t it makes your ability to AoE heal significantly harder. There’s only so much time I can spend Rescuing some ranged DPS to stand in a better spot before it hinders my ability to heal.

It makes handling dispels and affixes like Incorporeal even more aggravating, where you have to spend so much extra time flitting around to handle mechanics that you can’t do your primary job, which is to heal.

Some bosses just exacerbate the issue. Nokhud boss 1 is annoying because the healer is expected to do the mechanic to interrupt Eruption, but everyone is then out of range for the aoe that goes out at the same time. I have to ask people to collapse in on boss 2 for Electrical Storm so I can heal them (and indeed have seen many ranged DPS not stand close enough and were not healed at all because of it and died).

M+ bosses that require spreading out and/or leave giant circles on the ground during huge AoE damage have also been problematic for preservation this expansion, too. All it takes is for one ranged dps to be on the other side of a ground effect that you can’t traverse over to make it impossible to heal them.

I returned to preservation for season 4 hoping that it wouldn’t be as bad as I remember, but when I hop into a pug where ranged are scattered everywhere it makes me want to alt-f4. I’m looking for a new main in TWW primarily for this reason, which is a bummer because I love the spells and animations otherwise.
