Are Troll Priests good?

Just curious, I’ve been flip flopping between Undead and Blood Elf on what I want my Priest going to the new server to be. Ran Exile’s Reach and saw that the introductory Priest is a Troll, got to thinking.

sure. Any race is fine, pick the one you like

You’re never going to play at a level where the race of your character matters so who cares?

Trolls are pretty good, same with Blood elves. Because trolls have berserk (mini lust) while Blood Elves have an mana gain or something? If you care for racials then I’d decide between troll and blood elf, but if not go for something aesthetically pleasing.

Make a trial. Play with mog options. If you like the mogs, go for it. If you don’t, pick something else.

This is true.

What’s the name you’re going for?

I haven’t made a name for a Troll yet.

Oh. I meant what’s the easiest for you to name between the choices?

I have a soft spot for troll priests. The first friend I ever made in this game was a troll priest. Met him in the Ghostlands in BC. Good times…

Anyway, I think they’re great. I think undead and BE are great too. Priests have a lot of good race options.

The only truly meaningful race choice for a healer is night elf, because being able to get out of combat and drink is huge, in both pvp and pve. Other than that, pick whatever floats your boat looks wise.

Not true, even on a low level it can affect your gameplay, especially if you pick a utility racial like nightelves for shadowmeld

I am FAR from a high level of play and I masivle felt the difference when they nerfed Arcant torrent to a dispell instead of a silence.

Orc/Maghar Orc is the correct answer

The Vulpera Capitol Tent motto

I’ve got my hearthstone set to Valdrakken, my Dalaran hearthstone, and my garrison hearthstone to my fully upgraded garrison, all of which I use regularly. My tent is actually set outside Halls of Valor cause it’s so far away compared to the other M+ dungeons!

It’s completely true. In end game play if you’re not doing CE or doing M+ beyond 20s you’re not actually negatively affected at all by your race choice because you’re not coming down to winning based on small percentages.

The game’s not razor’s edge enough that your racial selection really matters in content. So yeah, Troll Priest would be completely fine.

That’s hilarious. In 2006 there was a meme for “Why are you a Troll Priest”, but I’m not finding it readily on teh interweb. It’s gone through many racial changes since then though… as most people say, it’s fine now.

It’s not about being competative or ‘winning’ It’s about play style. And racials DO affect that. I have 2 hunters, ones a bloodelf ones a nightelf, the hunter with Shadowmeld is far more slipperly, especially in pvp because he can shadowmeld into camo. And my bloodelf hunter is a bit more prone to getting in close to use arcane torrent, while the night elf has no reason to ever get in close.

They arn’t game changing and any race/class combo is viable, but saying “You’re never going to play at a level where the race of your character matters so who cares?” is simply ignorant. Because they do have some impact on every level, especially the utility racials.

Another example is that I changed my paladin from Draenei to light forged Draenei when they came out and noticed just how lame Lightforged racials are compared to Gift of the Naaru, which has no global CG so I could just macro it to cast whenever I used Avenging Wrath so I get a regen effect every time I use that ability.

It isn’t ignorant at all. Having or not having a racial isn’t going to be the difference between winning or losing at low keys, or apparently at no keys like you play. You can write all the big paragraphs you want, but it won’t change the primary point I made that he should play what he wants. Nobody cares what the opinion is of somebody that doesn’t play the game at any competitive level.

A little gamy but could be the spec they were when killed but with the right spices and sauce any priest race tastes heavenly. :innocent:
