Are PVP servers bad?

I always see players from PVE realms calling those on PVP servers toxic and immature kids all the time. Why is this?

Because it’s the truth that’s why

Nice copy pasta.

But no. Different people like different things. I happen to like getting things done efficiently with my playtime and not getting ganked every 3 minutes…so I prefer PvE.

I am on a pvp realm just due to not having much else to do once I reach the higher levels. 50-60 is gunna take a week or two, and at that point I think WPvP is more than okay. PvP isn’t usually my thing however it is nice knowing that I will generally always have something to do once I get a little bored that isn’t just grinding dungeons

Can confirm. You forgot to add in fragile ego!

No way, this is my original thread. It took a lot of effort.

Yes I am immature

My experience so far hasn’t been too bad on a PVP server. I played PVE vanilla-cata. Most are focused on questing and leveling so there hasn’t been much ganking. That said I kill every rogue I see, regardless of level.

It can get distracting though, it took my group way to long to finish the nesingway quests because we kept seeing groups of horde and getting into PvP, by choice.

People who play on PvE servers are just afraid of getting ganked because they’re carebears…softer than vanilla pudding.

What’s the worst that happens? You die once and have to run back to your body?

Oh boo hoo. You’re going to die from something anyway, be it by trying to complete a quest 3 levels higher than you and a mob parries 12 of your attacks in a row or 6000 mobs spawn on top of you.

Dying is part of classic. PvE kills you. PvP kills you. PvE players are just babies

I did the whole PVP server back in Vanilla and TBC and won’t do it again. I play to relax and getting chain ganked isn’t relaxing for me. Lots of folks like them and lots of folks don’t. It all depends on personal taste and reasons for playing. The good thing about being on a PVE server is I can flag up whenever I want wPVP.

Alliance complain PvP servers are bad because they get PvP.

In my experience of rolling Alliance PvP. Most Alliance players don’t want to PvP. They generally don’t want to help each other out when the horde come knocking either.

All it would take is for the Alliance players to group up, they could easily mop the floor with the Horde players.

I rerolled horde. When I go walking through a zone, you can just watch with humorous satisfaction, all the Alliance scattering and moving to stay out of my way. Like for reals, if 2 or 3 Ally players would just work together, I would die so fast.
Even if I’m 5-10 levels higher, 3 vs 1 will kill me. But they’re all a bunch of cowards that cry in my wake.

The problem is that this is never the case. They camp. I’d give them the benefit of the doubt if it were fair, but its never fair. I don’t consider wpvp real pvp. But hey, play how you want. Just don’t expect to receive any mercy when we’re even in level and your garbage-ness shows. Enjoy the constant corpse running.

9/10 times you’re not gonna get camped, unless you pissed the person off. There are the people out there that will camp you but they’re far and few in between.

Don’t wanna corpse run? Don’t die. I don’t seem to have any problems. I’ve had numerous alliance try to gank me. Most resulted in them doing the corpse running and they left me alone afterward. Hell I even had a 37 warrior and 39 pally try to kill me yesterday while I was doing Bloodsail quests. I 2v1’d them. Then they came back and I 2v1’d them again just to send a message. Saw them again later on, I didn’t bother them, they didn’t bother me.

No, Forum Players are bad. There are plenty of nice people on any server type, there’s just a vocal group of Forum posters who try to convince people that everyone is mean and bad when they aren’t.

It’s just the way of the internet…

If you play on a PvP realm, anyone on a PvE realm is a pansy carebear who cries every time their pixels die.

If you play on a PvE realm, anyone on a PvP realm is a toxic 12 year old who just wants to grief people.

As with most things in life, neither extreme is accurate, the truth lies somewhere in the middle. You’ll find some of each type of player on both servers, and of course there are mostly normal players on both realms as well.

When you play in a constant competitive environment, there is bound to be some trash talk and lots and lots of ganking.

If you don’t like this, i recommend selecting the safety of PVE servers where everyone can skip and frolic while collecting their pig spleens free from any danger.

It’s not really that bad from experience.

Getting ganked and camped happens. You just have to shrug it off and keep doing what you were doing.

Besides honor is not out yet so most people just leave each other alone unless provoked.

Played on both extensively over the years. “Toxic” players are just as rampant on PvE servers. If you count killing the enemy faction as “toxic” then of course PvP servers will be worse, but that’s the point of those servers, Blizzard put them in the game for those sorts, if you hate it then stay away.

One thing to note, I have found players of the same faction are actually better on PvP servers, likely since they can take out their anger/flex their ego on the enemy faction. Though it may just of been the server itself.

I"m 45 and I play on PvP… because what fun is the World of Warcraft without looking over your shoulder while out in it?

As for the toxicity… only seen it once so far. Some juvenile sent me a PM full of obscenities when I told him his level 10 pally wouldn’t survive long in Duskwood.

It is what it is…

As someone who has played since TBC on a PVE server, my group of buddies decided to do PVP and chose Grobbulus for whatever reason.

Alliance is way more organized PVP-wise and are doing coordinated attacks and shutting down major Horde quest hubs which can be a bit of a buzzkill.

The thing I don’t understand is the ganking/camping I have gotten in Desolace and Thousand Needles and Ashenvale by ?? Alliance. As an example, the quest in Desolace where you tame Kodos and turn 5 in – there is a high level rogue who enjoys killing lowbies to derail that quest. So be it. I chose PVP.

I rationalize it by believing they aren’t that good at PVP hence have to abuse players much lower level than them. So I have the addon Spy and have a growing kill on sight list. They will get their comeuppance.

Right now I’d prefer to be on a PVE server because I just wanna get my s**t done peacefully. But I’m very much looking forward to world PVP when everyone is 60 and there aren’t these really unfair situations. At that point I think I will be happy I’m on a PVP server.
