Are people really that bored?

I’m totally cool with waiting; I’ve not even finished the vanilla content back before there were any expansions.

I just don’t want to hear BS like “just go play TBC in retail, it’s the same thing”.

So what? Nobody is offering us custom games. Every player has his favorites – either a past WoW expansion, or a future WoW change. But there is no company offering us each our own game. Not for $15/mo.

Blizzard is watching us. They have not decided yet if Classic was a failure or a success. Every forum post that says “give us TBC instead” is a “no” vote. Step 1 is to convince Blizzard that Classic was worth the time and money. Then we can talk about step 2.

So what? Classic devs have already stated that the groundwork has been laid and it would be much easier to do TBC. They’re listening to feedback.

People wanting TBC doesn’t in any way mean this was not a success. Tons of TBC players are enjoying the hell out of the game right now.

So you’re more worried about your own preferences over those of others. I completely get that. Now take a step back, breathe a bit and ask yourself a question: “is Blizzard going to be willing to lose die-hard Vanilla players by forcing upgrades to TBC/Wrath, or are they more likely to change some servers to TBC/Wrath and leave others Classic-only and just allow free transfers until people get sorted?”.

The chances they will force people to upgrade is 0. No business logic in that decision whatsoever. In fact, the only server I can see having an issue is mine (Remulos) and possibly Bloodsail Buccaneers due to there being 1 Normal Oceanic and 1 RP server so the pop split could be an issue.

I personally preferred TBC. Wrath was cool though, 8/10 would play again.

I love classic and think that it’s a superior RPG to the retail version. When classic was announced, I never once thought what you’re insinuating.

I would very much want to play through classic, TBC and WotLK.

That’s not the problem at all. I don’t think anybody expect Blizz to force upgrades. The question is if after 2 years of Classic if Vanilla servers will be able to maintain a healthy population in the presence of TBC and WotLK servers. I’m not confident they can…

I think there’s a very large portion of Classic players who play because it’s the closest they can get to their favorite expansion. With how WoW gained most of population in TBC and WotLK, it wouldn’t even surprise me if a majority of Classic players fall into that bucket. Considering this, it’s easy to imagine a scenario where Vanilla servers become ghost towns while TBC or WotLK servers are booming, which is effectively the same as a forced upgrade.

If multiple “classics” can run in parallel with healthy populations I’m all for them, but I’m not going to push for them unless there’s reasonable confirmation that’s what’ll happen.

With as many servers as there are I think you’re way too worried about this. Some of them still have layering. I’ve also heard that Classic pretty much killed Retail (I refuse to touch Retail so cannot confirm myself).

As long as there are 6 servers per region (1 for Classic, 1 per expansion, PvE and PvP) then pop will be fine. The only ones that will get seriously shafted are Oceanic players (I happen to be one) and RPers.

Thing is, it’s not up to you. And they can’t confirm that the pop will be healthy from one day to the next. It’s apparent this sort of interest was not expected, and even with drop-off you’re still looking at more interest than was planned for. If they think they can make a buck and not totally torch their income, they’ll do it.

Obviously. All we can do is voice what we do and don’t actively support, and that’s been my intent with throughout this thread. I’m not against TBC/WotLK classic servers but I can’t voice support for them either.

the people enjoying the game are playing the game. and the people who enjoy complaining on the forums are doing that. and when you post complaining about the complaining you’re just adding to the irrelevant noise.

TBH I’m at work and can’t play.

I’m just here cuz a bad group made me rage quit so I’m cooling off before logging back in. Is it just me or are weekends when the baddies come out?

Don’t confuse forum posts with the actual playerbase. People who post here are a tiny, tiny fraction of the playerbase. On top of that, most of those threads are trolls. The posters don’t even use Classic characters, because they know they’d be called out on their lies.

In short: ignore the trolls.

By the way, I’m not speaking of those asking for TBC or Wrath. People like different things. I’m speaking more of those saying there’s nothing to do, they’re bored. Things need to be changed or added to Classic. Those are the trolls.
