Are people going to take DPS Ferals now or?

Are you implying speed running guilds dont run feral offtanks.

Yes. You’re a tank

Hahaha yes. A kitty DPS is capable of dealing more than enough damage to meaningfully contribute on every single boss in this game.

The responses in this thread are hilarious. People crushed all of the content in a day. Its a solved old version of the game.

Ignore the forum cringe. You can successfully do everything this game has to offer as a Kitty DPS.

The problem is cats aren’t getting picked is where the OP is coming from. So you can sit there and tell them to “ignore the problem” while you toss your nose high into the air…but it still leaves the OP with the same problem. People don’t want Feral when they can pick almost anything else better or with more raid utility. Period.

Feral dps,no. Feral offtank who can go cat and do subpar DPS in between off tanking duties, yes.

Cats can do respectable dps. Check my logs. They’re public. Specifically fights like maiden in kara where we can have 100%uptime on the boss. I did 750ish dps without power shifting, consumes, or even swapping into full dps gear. I think I just threw on my ilhoof staff and kept my tank gear on. I’ll try hard it this week and see if I can push 1k but for everyone saying it’s barely above the tanks you have no idea what you’re talking about.

This is actually one of the crap parts of 10 / 25 raid size. In reality 10 players is really just a dungeon.

Karazan is tunes right now and plays similar to pre1.3 Stratholm or Scholomance.

Something about 40 player raid is just so epic feeling.

If you expect to sit in kitty 100% of the time and refuse to tank as needed yeah expect to skipped over for groups.

Feral does not become a solid dps spec until wrath.

Don’t pug. Problem solved.

Plenty of reasonable guilds out there who will happily take a good Kitty.

You actually try parsing in tbc with powershifting while weaponswapping/chugging and using a good Feral weapon? Or are you just judging that based on warcraft logs, which also includes every single parse of cats having to go bear for 30% of a fight and bears trying to cat with no experience.

It doesn’t matter you can go to top 1% or 5% parses and pick specific fights kitty is best on and they’re still bottom of the barrel. It really just comes down to whether you can beat the ret pally or not.

So you are just judging it on warcraft logs. Have you actually DPSd as cat in TBC Classic at all?

I wouldn’t call it a waste of time if it genuinely made those who play feral happy whether they have a raid spot or not.

I mean as a ret Paladin you aren’t wrong.

I love the 5% crit on my hunter.

I did back in the day. And judging feral’s dps potential by what the best of the best are able to do vs other classes is entirely relevant.

So you dont play cat in TBC classic but you’re on the TBC classic forums telling a TBC classic cat player how tbc classic cat performs. Got it.

I’m sorry if it’s not convenient to your narrative that we can easily look at logs and see exactly how feral dps does vs other classes.

And this might also shock you but TBC Classic plays basically the same as TBC, which I don’t need to have raided yet to know.

Unless you want your Hunters to be without 5% extra crit…

Sure… and Feral DPS is still pretty poor.

Maiden of Virtue top parses:

  • Feral Druid - https://classic.warcraftlogs.com/zone/rankings/1007#boss=654&class=Druid&spec=Feral
  • Rogue (Any Spec) - https://classic.warcraftlogs.com/zone/rankings/1007#boss=654&class=Rogue
  • Warrior (Arms or Fury) - https://classic.warcraftlogs.com/zone/rankings/1007#boss=654&class=Warrior
  • Enhancement Shaman - https://classic.warcraftlogs.com/zone/rankings/1007#boss=654&class=Shaman&spec=Enhancement
  • Retribution Paladin - https://classic.warcraftlogs.com/zone/rankings/1007#boss=654&class=Paladin&spec=Retribution

The highest Feral parse is 1,638.6, with most of the top 25 being around 1200.

  • Retribution Paladins parse a bit higher at best and on average
  • Enhancement Shaman parse a bit lower at best, but much better overall on average
  • Rogues are significantly better than Feral
  • Warriors are staggeringly better than Feral

Oh and that top-end Feral parse? He used 11 Troll’s Blood Elixirs:

https://classic.warcraftlogs.com/reports/apHnZRj3JGzb9vfg#fight=22&type=auras&source=8&translate=true

That means that when the Hp5 bug is fixed on Live Servers, Feral DPS will go down a bit more since this method will be gone entirely. With the Hp5 bug in place, Feral is barely able to compete with Shaman and Paladin DPS, both of whom bring better overall utility to any raid team as a pure DPS role. Oh, and Maiden of Virtue FREQUENTLY SILENCES YOU, which means the Shaman and Paladin had to deal with waiting on skills from time to time and still beat Feral.

Feral is bottom of the barrel melee DPS. This is the reality of most of TBC.

PS - Now, this isn’t to say that a Feral Druid doing 1k DPS is bad relative to the health of the bosses we currently face. Nothing right now has a ton of health and if any DPS are doing solid 1k DPS then that boss will die in relatively short order. Nothing is stopping you from being a pure DPS Feral, but you are unequivocably the worst of the melee options.
