It’s…pretty egregious and not really defensible at all, as a design choice. Seems like as with Torghast powers and development in general, Hunters were last on the To Do List, and devs ran out of time.
Hoping this changes in Phase 2, and VERY early (as in, you can get a rune immediately that gives you another option.)
I think it’s silly Hunters can complain when they are still at the top after two rounds of nerfs.
And for real, we had two hunter pets tank Kelris. With scaling and later runes in ither phases, I would not be surprised if pets are fully viable off tanks.
I’m sure 8 hunters can down the raid using their pets to tank swap. No other role needed.
You seem to have missed the memo that hunter pets can tank now
Maybe because the root of the issue isn’t numbers balance, but rather class and game design. When you make every other class able to fulfill different roles and relegate hunters to only doing boring, albeit strong, damage, don’t be surprised when they are upset that the only benefit to their class is being neutered. The complaints of hunter balance only occur because the class can’t do anything but watch their scorpion kill for them.
Just give them 2 other support runes to go with the aspect of the lion and they can be the SoD Augmentation evoker.
NO do not make hunter’s a STAT STICK CLASS
We wanted SoD hunter to be different from classic hunter, not the exact same as it provides passive auras lol. (Which it ALSO did in classic.)
I just want them to keep expanding on melee for hunters. I always hated how they pigeon-holed them into pure ranged dps in TBC → WotLK → Cata onwards.
Honestly, I am fine without there being another role for hunters. This is the first time hunters have ever been real dps and I am happy to see it at 60.
They really missed an opportunity to give hunters a true beast master role by leaning into allowing pets to tank. Phase 2 we get access to gorilla thunder stomps which will bring us aoe threat gen and we will be the main tanks in gnomer.

They missed the mark by not giving us screech 2 for phase 1. Rank 1 does 16 aoe threat, I think rank 2 does 48. Still not enough probably but better than nothing.
It’s a shame because they added a lvl 25 owl (Carrodin) but it doesn’t have rank 2 which is a lvl 24 ability. Would fit perfectly.
Everything nerfed into the ground so that only one pet and one rune are viable.
People constantly crying for that pet/rune to get the explosive shot treatment.

Hunter pets seem to be really good tanks currently, I’m kind of hoping we get some weird pet tank spec.
A small piece of advice to hunters: please shut up.
Unless you want to be nerfed again, do not attract attention to yourselves. Yes, I know some of you want to make noises with your mouth that resembles words, and those noises sound very, very intelligent to you.
But please, for your own sake. Be quiet. You people are your very own worst enemy right now.

Agreed. Give hunters a healing pet they can use with eyes of the beast to heal from safety.
Druids can heal and they are cats. Makes perfect sense.
