Are High elves officially a playable race now?

What is Blizz official stance on this? Are Blood elves and Void elves considered high elves by blizz?

Well yeah they are both high elves.
Their race is all the same.
Neither were never not high elves.

So if I were to ask a developer am I playing a high elf he would say yes?

I don’t want to be attacked my some rabid helfer but I thought blood and void elves plus the Silver Covenant were all high elves that broke off into different organizations.

Yeah they would

That’s exactly what happened

Their race doesn’t change just because their politics did

This sentence hurt my head. Too early, I need coffee.

To the OP: yes, Blood and Void Elves are High Elves. You just get a little Violet Beauregarde during combat as a Void Elf but otherwise you can absolutely pull off the High Elf look.

The beast has been stirred. It’s only a matter of time before they are drawn to this thread by the title alone.

(Having trouble with quotes on mobile)

Yes. Belves by and large sucked on some Fel energies when the Sunwell went kaput, but that was mainly the big green crystals. They didn’t change races, just changed eye colors. The few that went overboard you get to see in the Sunwell Raid and those were Fel Elves. Traditional Helves went cold turkey and somehow didn’t turn into wretched. Void Elves experimented with… the void. All three are still genetically Helves. Modern Blood Elves used a Light infused Sunwell.

Another way to think of it is that Helves were vegans, Belves just ate whatever they needed to survive (but not in excess), and Velves ate raw meat and told everyone it was great. All three would still be the same as they were but obviously have different outlooks on life.

Yes, they both are.

Both are High Elves but neither are the generic and most basic version of High elf.

As the others have said yes, all are Thalassian elves (High Elves). A blood elf is a high elf, plain and simple, the only reason they are called Blood Elves and not High Elves on the Horde is because they chose to change their racial name in memory of the fallen due to the Scourge after the assault on Silvermoon to get to the Sunwell in WC3, since yes the racial name change occured in WC3 originally, not WoW:

Those that refused to change their name like the rest of the race, did not and kept the High Elf name for themselves. Those groups were very small number compared to the race as a whole, and if not neutral often Alliance leaning (such as the Silver Covenant)

Void Elves are Blood Elves (High elves that accepted the racial agreement to change their name) that were banished from Silvermoon due to their practices and typically changed by them (the Void)

So of the three the Void elves are the ones ‘furthest’ from what they all are since they were physically changed by the void, rather than just agreeing to a racial name change in memory of the Fallen or refusing to do the same.

When did the helf thread spam start up again? It seems like every other thread is a helf thread this week.

Both are High Elves. High Elves have been officially playable since The Burning Crusade.

No, neither of them are. Void Elves are Ren’dorei, Blood Elves are Sin’dorei, and High Elves are Quel’dorei. They are however, probably the closest we’re ever going to get.

No, they’re not. Ion doesn’t understand the lore and doesn’t dictate it. High Elves have never, and likely will never be playable.

And here it starts. Putting you on ignore. Trying to discuss the topic with a HEFA’er is like talking to a brick wall.
