This is not the post for your opinions on gdkps, if you like them or not, what you think they do to the game, could care less about your whiny tears, this is simply just a question of are GDKP’s against TOS or not. Several people i know, and others also crying on the forums about it, are getting long 10 day + suspensions for looking for members for GDKP’. These werent ever banned before so has blizzard come out and said these are against TOS or what. Theyre also not overturning any of the suspensions, and again im not for or against gdkp’s i could care less id just like to know the rules of the game.
Try reading.
but please answer your question?
No.
no, blizzard doesn’t mandate any method of loot distribution. i have heard someone call it gambling but i don’t see how that could possibly be the case as GDKP at the end of the day is just an auction so that would mean banning the AH as well
They are not.
There are two factors at play here -
A) Blizzard uses automation to ban bots and those who receive gold from bots. If you are doing a GDKP, make sure you are paid by one of the players in the raid, not someone named Hjkxtl.
B) Players of all shapes and sizes are abusing auto-moderation for their own agendas. Banning PvP opponents, banning players who gank their bots, and so forth. Another facet of their is players using reporting to try to get GDKP players banned because of their political ideology. I expect Blizzard to make some subtle changes to their automoderation in the future, in a way to cut down on this.
I dont care if they are or not.
They promote buying gold. I see a post, i report it. Period.
All the silly responses you gold buyers and sellers are coming up with are stupid.
I especially like the one about shutting down the AH because you are likely buying items from bots.
Guess what, if YOU would grow up and stop using real money to buy gold, i would not even have to worry about bots at all. We have bots because PLAYERS like yourself, feel its ok to buy gold from third party websites.
That for sure is against ToS. Stop doing it.
I hope and pray that everyone keeps mass reporting any and all GDKP raids in LFG. A big shoutout to the players who respect the game and care about the integrity of classic WoW.
Stick it to them, they are feeling the pressure boys. So many post recently about GDKP posters getting bans. Lets go!
Are there? Because I see the one post linked over and over, from Wrath Classic in December, and the guy was unbanned the day he was banned and appealed.
But uhh, sure, okay bub.
Were are they looking for members? Its against ToS to advertise in game in a certain channel
They are not.
Things that are against ToS are the following:
- Advertising raid signups for future events in LFG (this is what Guild Recruitment is for)
- Advertising gold buy-ins and the like in LFG (this is what Trade Chat is for)
- RMT of any kind
- Spamming false reports
Things that are not against ToS include:
- Advertising open slots for a GDKP actively forming or running in LFG without mention of gold, future runs, discord links, etc
- Participating in GDKP generally whether you’re low geared and planning on bidding a lot or you’re a carry
- Organizing a GDKP with unique rules like special cuts for top DPS, run organizer, consumable restrictions, minimum bids, etc
In your particular situation: it is most likely a combination of some people getting actioned for actual RMT behavior and some people getting actioned because so many people reported them it automatically flagged them and any human getting around to looking at the suspension is not going to get around to it within the time frame posted
There are a lot of idiots on these boards who are simply mass reporting anything and anyone that is GDKP related. They report organizers, they join discords and go down the list of names and report all of them in-game if they can, etc, because they’re entirely malicious. These have been the go-to tactics of trolls for years because Blizzard has systems in place that auto-suspend if a mass of reports flood in. Folks have used it to disrupt all kinds of things. A notable example was during the AQ40 race, several folks got banned erroneously from a mass of false reports that caused them to miss ringing the gong and getting Scarab Lord. I’m pretty sure even after the dust settled the victims didn’t get a chance to get snag the title or mount.
Bottom line: GDKPs are fine
False flaggers like this guy are just a blight on the game.
You are a bad word. I wanna say it so bad but i think i am on my last strike.
isn’t gambling also okay as long as you don’t advertise?
to the OP Blizzards stance (Unless it has changed and they haven’t told us) is that GDKPs are fine.
GDKPs are allowed, but if you keep reporting them, like casting a wide net, there’s a good chance you’ll catch a nice big fish that got the gold from bots.
Therefore making reporting GDKPs ‘kinda worth it’, because they’re forced to take a closer look.
Making some players sweat.
I like it because it’s funny, free entertainment for me lol.
And everyone saying I’ll get in trouble for a false report- that’s never happened in the 19 on-and-off years I’ve played WoW, lmao.
There is a first time for everything.

Uh-huh…
I don’t even think the penalty would be that bad. Probably a warning at most, lol.
Maybe my reports were accurate or something? I report most I see, at the very least for “advertisement” which mutes them for me in trade chat.
I just don’t wanna see 'em in the first place. Maybe they’re just muting them for me and nothing more, but the blue post I got back in the mail says otherwise.
Weaponizing mass-reports is different, lol.
I highly doubt nearly as many people are reporting GDKPs as what happened right there, all focused on one guy.
That’s the thing, Blizzard denies still that automatic suspensions aren’t real, and we really have no idea how many it takes to trip the system. With folks just false reporting anyone GDKP adjacent and encouraging others to do the same, it wouldn’t take long to match a single guild worth of trolls.
Don’t false report.
Losing a GDKP player isn’t hurting WoW, because they weren’t running the raid normally anyway, they ran in a bidding group with other whales.
It’s not like they’re out there in LFG looking for a group, nah they’re looking to buy.
Actually, losing GDKP players removes bot gold from the economy, thus helping in the long run lmao.
I don’t see any negatives, aside from a butthurt player mad they can’t buy their way through PvE.
False reporting players who are not breaking any rules is bad, and your reasoning is just cruelly apathetic.
Oh I’m sorry, didn’t realize the mobs and bosses acted differently if they saw people exchanging gold for items as opposed to checking a loot council master list or rolling MS/OS.
Because you’re exactly like those that would report someone just to deny them Scarab Lord, you’re petty and vindictive.
Maybe they should have separate servers for GDKP patrons, so the rest of us don’t have to put up with something we obviously don’t like.
It’s just not in the spirit of the game to commodify every single thing to hell and back, making a simple dungeon/raid run into a market.
They should separate the game for people who just wanna play it and not feel obligated to grind or buy gold for a chance at items.
Having GDKP around just creates inflation for the rest of us.
Some subset of players have to have everything be about money.
