Welcome to the WoW forums, where many posts get buried for this reason anyway using the flagging system we do have.
No it would not cut down on flagging. That still happened before.
Downvotes will likely never return.
Nah, I think people would just flag in addition to downvote.
Burying peopleâs posts is why downvotes were removed in the first place.

Flagging is the only available answer to âhow do I delete someone elseâs post?â
You canât take that away. Itâs too useful.
T his is why I am a firm believer in it should be restricted to 1 character/toon per account. Does not need to be battle.net name or anything just one character/toon the account owner chooses. That is the only one they can post on. They can change the character/toon but when they do, all of their previous posts get changed to the new character as well. This would also apply to upvotes and downvotesâŚonly one per allowed posting character/toon per account.
That would be a good way to cut down on nonsense.
Downvoted.
it would lower the flagging and also lower the amount of posts that are the same but opposite.
people just need to have a way to show they dont agree. very human.
No. Downvote was used to cancel people on the old forums. They donât want people using a thumbs down only. They want actual replies.
But the flag button needs changed to a report button with big bold wording to not abuse it or you get sanctioned.
lolâŚseeing ive been running forums just like this one for over two decades, Im pretty sure my undertanding is just fine lol
I skeptical that there even are GMs anymore. I wouldnât be surprised if they automated it with an AI like they did with Customer Support.
so they flag everything that seems remotely right leaning? your forums are definitely as bad as these ones. you just have a gross little community of people that all agree with each other.
They had them on the SC2 forums for a lot longer than they did in WoW and it worked great over there. You couldnât get on alts and dislike a post there, in WoW you can go onto alts and dislike posts. But Blizzard could have fixed that by making it to where you get one like or dislike per post per battle net account. That would have stopped all the people from going on alts to dislike posts they didnât like.
Nope. People donât flag as a substitute for downvotes, they flag because of our culture is completely obsessed by punishing others for perceived slights.
i give this forum version 1 month and it would be totally dead by then
How about this? We had a how list of emoji flags. Unpopular. hot take. false information. etc. Much like in customer support you have almost a sticky for the most valuable answer to a question. Like best answer. A revamp of the summation tab for long threads
Bnet posting, like they have on every other Blizzard forum.
Donât need Bnet posting. Just need the backend account wide: flags, ignores, trust levels.
I disagree.
And I fought to be able to post on a character on this forum, because this game is our characters.
When everything can be backend, thereâs no need to mess up the MMORPG character system.
Also, to add to my previous post: there isnât a lot of mass flagging going on with alts, according to blues. People do get sanctioned for that, as well. Three to six month vacations.
Upvote/down vote is objectively the correct system. Most places dropped it, or severely reduced itâs usefulness, because it absolutely craters engagement from the people most likely to get downvoted into oblivion.
That, and it makes corporations very upset when their slop gets downvoted. Because a lot of people might go watch the slopvengers 10 if it has 1000 likes, but not if it has 1000 likes and 100000 dislikes.
Final nail in the coffin on down votes across the internet were âcorrect thinkâ videos getting super lopsided up/down votes that damaged the narrative that what they were selling was the popular opinion.
Same reason itâs never coming back here. Correct think posts were getting downvoted hard, and while espousing wrong think could get you a forum vacation, down voting correct think couldnât.
Iâve been running forums just like this for four decades, Iâm pretty sure my understanding is just fine lol
Getting flagged doesnât do anything unless they review it and manually take action.
All downvote systems do is encourage echo chambers.
