I Disagree
I don’t think it’s a bad idea, but I think it would really be better to make it a constant thing.
cooperation between races happens constantly. Even if we hate eachother we team up to save the world from threats. All the time.
Even something as simple as wailing caverns makes no sense to be faction locked.
oh, hey, its grayphus.
His avatar is also Varian btw.
So…your point is null.
Eh…I dont know…id like to do the slow approach personally and see how it is received. That way, if people say “i dont like cross faction” it is a lot easier to get out of than opening it entirely.
You can’t put the genie back in the box once he is out.
Of course…they gave the alliance a Horde race so…who knows?
We could get to a point where Every race is playable on every faction and there would still be a problem, albeit a much smaller one.
You’d still have a superior faction.
As long as there’s a divide, there will be a better faction, and people will flock to it.
The divide between the factions is the problem.
I didn’t play TBC so I will always think of Chris Metzen as Thrall personified…maybe when he was in charge things were different for the Alliance (I started in Cata and things were ok… in MoP things were ok… its WoD that really made me wonder… I didn’t play much of Legion but I guess Dadgar was a definite Alliance force but he was pretty balanced I though (I just went back and did all the quests///and Dadgar loves everyone. He’s not Alliance.)
but surely Ion is no friend to the Alliance for sure. They probably try to do their best… all the devs… but its very hard to shake off the faction ‘hate’ when you are committed to only one side.
Blizzard wants us to buy into the faction hate. It makes them money. And I think that’s ok. The faction hate is kinda fun. Be nice to have an Alliance cheerleader on the dev team tho… cause there are LOTS of Horde cheerleaders every interview and every Blizzcon.
Infact… we’ve seen a couple of instances where the faction hatred gets WAY out of hand…and starts insulting whole demographics of real people.
RIFT tried this long ago and what happened was everyone transferred to the Defiant faction and left the Guardian faction despite cross realm/cross faction enabled.
It has a potential to go bad.
In that game, racials didnt existeither
Once again i point out how the Ally players point out facts, and the horde players ignore it.
If this happened in WoW it wouldn’t be a problem.
If the Faction divide went away, people would very happily continue to play Alliance races, especially considering they wouldn’t be limited to a small section of the population.
Many people in my guild have stated numerous times they would willing play Alliances races if it meant they wouldn’t have to leave the guild and get stuck with a small sliver of the raider population.
People like the Alliances races, they just don’t want to play them if that means they can’t group up with most of the population. Myself included.
Yep. I really saw Varian being the blue jesus of Warcraft.
Its sad you can’t recognize a good thing when its there.
They can make cross faction grouping entirely optional and keep the open world conflict. We already sell stuff to each other in the AH, share world boss kills, and end every expansion working together against “the real threat” after beginning the expansion with some trumped up BS.
I don’t believe the designers are biased against the alliance, it’s really a silly idea, but that doesn’t mean that there isn’t a bias in the game albeit I see it as driven by the players. If you try to deal with symptoms and not cause you risk worsening the situation.
This is an excellent point!
Is the cause the faction conflict? That Blizzard makes $$$ by keeping us fighting each other and switching factions.
If both factions were equal in terms of Mythic raid progression and PVP ladders… the only loser would be Blizzard’s bottom line.
then you run across thing like the flower buffs in Ashran for an example, a nice 15% stat buff deliberately place right beside the Hordes entrance, giving them a clear and decisive advantage to the start of the bg game, there are too many little things like this I have ran across not to wonder if something like that is going on at Blizzard.
Wrong.
The Alliance and Christmas. If it’s not one, it’s going to be the other. In between turning the frogs gay.
You are a “Blood Elf Paladin”. Blood Elves are only on the Horde aka the Red Faction.
yet another MMO where the self-righteous “human” faction was extremely lame and the red faction was way cooler.
If faction transfer money was their goal they could have continued ping ponging racial strengths, I meant that there is a definite difference in M+ and PvP success and it seems to be snowballing as people seek the more progressed faction. I think the reason they don’t allow cross faction grouping is that a lot of people are invested in the faction conflict but we already work together.
Ashran was designed in WoD, when alliance was the stronger faction and they were trying to incentivize transfers the other way.
and Alliance has been pleading with Blizzard to fix this since Ashran has become an epic and they refuse to do it.
