Are Arathi good because they're racist zealot HUMAN villains, or bad because humans get more spotlight?

The high elven mount however is a bird.

They are humans dont try to fool me lol…they are humans with long ears, so much so the customization is on what? ho yes on humans…

Yeah i know that Mereldar story which was a vision of a Naaru, you know, the same thing Velen got…and in term of timeline (i mean in real world) the velen vision was older, they just thought it was cool to have humans stole that, it dont change my point.

No its what the writers try to make you think.

It dont make it more logical or more legit, justifications by the worst is the lowest form of arguement.

Here you are being wrong, the city was lot bigger than old town, and you cant prouve me that only the old town was not rebuilt from scratche.

As for “the entire kingdom was rebuilt” thats wrong too because you literally have no proof of that, we only know about stromwind rebuilding timeline not the whole villages and the kingdom itself.

Sources? You have none.

Because we are done with this story? Like, you know we are not going to get more of the arathi expedition right? And the shadw cult you wont see it having more stuff.

Their name, ARATHI is not elvish at all name, the models are 99% humans models, you have like 3-4 npc which actually use an elven model, their music are all humans, their building are all humans, their faith is human too.

Only their mount are elven related because its cats!

You did the dungeon? You have read what Faerlyn say herself? That the expedition is even less agaisnt outsaiders and others races than the actual arathi from the Empire, meaning the Empire itself is even more racisit toward other races.

And calling you lesser because you are not arathi its racisit yes.

Dam thats true, that guy is actually tricking me by asking me to answer for him!!! Dam and i did not notice! i am too honest!

The only one we saw who was mage did not even know how to make a dam portal…

Yeah like Mereldar? Ho right sorry, its the name of a human woman who existed long before the humans even met the elves which mean its not elven…

They were written you know like what? Like Kul tirans, because their plot is very similar, they just have flying ships instead of on sea, and they are also infiltrated by a void cult. Just kul tirans wielding light.

I dont see in what way their airship are elven.

Isnt the high elves mount the unicorn? I thought the birds were for blood elves.

That’s the Silver Covenant. The Blood Elves are High Elves with a name change, that’s all.

Pointed… not long. The Arathi ear customistion only turns the round edges to points, they are not lengthened… compared to Arathor, they’re more like eighth-elves instead of half elves.

Or maybe they could just be vulcans pretending to be elf-ish humans.

Said without a hint of irony regarding the elves. Like without the long ears, Silvermoon elves are literally humans.

Like aside from the ears what makes elves different from humans? Magic? The humans can do it too. Long life? Some of them like Agwynn and Turaylon can do the same trick. A culture centered around magic? Hello and goodbye Dalaran.

Just considering it, what would make them more elvish anyways? the amount of cultural lore we have for the High Elves is a puddle.

Their history we have consists of beating up the trolls, teaching humans magic, being curb stomped by the scourge and inadvertently allowing for Kel’thuzad to come back as a lich, and having their last prince go full Legion Minion.

We do not even have their full line of kings for goodness sake.

It’s a good question. The most straightforward way to demonstrate that they retain elements of Thalassian culture would have been to give mages a prominent role in their society.

It’s true that we don’t actually know a ton about how Quel’thalas works. My personal headcanon is that the Magisters are pretty close to State Alchemists from FMA: a hybrid academic/military organization that is so highly valued by the state that it also tends to dominate politics.

Isent… isn’t that what an Elf is? Or at least a half-elf?

Except for, of course, the Arathi using elven models.

Humans have had visions in the lore since before Mereldar was anything but the name of a lake in EPL.

Yeah. That’s kind of how you write a story.

Still not justifying it.

I don’t think I ever claimed Stormwind wans’t bigger than just one district, but the name of Old Town is literally in reference to much of the district pre-dating the reconstruction of the city.

Old Town is Stormwind City’s oldest section, and many parts of it still predate the reconstruction of the city after its razing by the orcs during the events of the First War. As the district had not been badly ravaged, it had never needed true rebuilding.

The Horde’s invasion destroyed Goldshire, Northshire, Grand Hamlet, much of Westfall and Lakeshire. All of these settlements were rebuilt within a shorter timeframe than the Hallowfall Expedition.

Blizzard has more than once spoken about how much they had to shrink the world to even make the game run, Stormwind itself is a lot smaller than what they had planned. Compare Theramore, from 2004, to something like Corlain from BfA.

Are we? Xal’atath isn’t defeated yet.

Vaelisia is a very elven sounding name, Faerin as well. Andari, Aemyra, Taenar and even Kyron are all fairly elven sounding names. There is even an Anastaria.

The dungeon that is opposed by the Arathi themselves, whose mobs speak of a need of defeating enemies at home in the Empire? Yes, I’ve done it.

Yes, and have you put what she said into context? She is speaking of undead / death knights, warlocks, demon hunters and, most importantly, void elves / shadow priests. She comments on Anduin’s company which, if the player is not one of those, is Alleria, a void elf. The personification of the Arathi’s greatest foe. All of these are also things which neither Alliance nor Horde are fully comfortable around.

The only survived, we know from the lore that there are many others.

She lived during the Troll Wars and rose to prominence after the war was won, but she’s also not one of the Arathi today.

It’s a hybrid culture, their buildings are human, but they also have a sleek elven design to them. Same with the airships that would look more at home in a Thalassian armada than a human fleet. Not that the elves themselves have literal airships.

All we know is that Anasterian was one of the few kings in Azeroth that wasn’t an absolute monarch given that the Convocation of Silvermoon, an aristocratic council of the kingdom’s most powerful lords, often magi, was the ruling power of the kingdom.

Name any other known humans who’ve had visions in the past, besides Mereldar and her group that is.

Medivh; a stretch, sure, but nonetheless a human who’ve had visions in the past. Demetria is another.

Bro “”“thinks”“” human claymores are high elven designs. Dude is lying.

Yeah, I’m just not seeing it I guess. To me, the boat design looks more akin to something we’d see in Kul Tiras than anything the blood/high elves or even night elves would have, and the balloon is much the same. Likewise for the buildings; if you plopped them down in Kul Tiras or especially Gilneas, they would barely stand out at all, other than being lighter shaded with their browns. The designs look no more sleeker than what Gilneans and Kul Tirans use.

Like, if this is a blended culture, then the human-bits blended out anything that says “elf-ish”. I’m flying around Mereldar, and the closest thing to elf-like is the verticle banners… Which elves hardly have a monopoly on.

I just do not see it at all.

Weirdly, WC2 pallies had WC3 farseer’s ability to get rid of fog of war.

Thats even worst!

Good one!

Their whole culture is different, they live longer than humans, they have different building, they have different oroders.

Having more elvish buildings, more mixxed culture.

Thats what they are sold as, but other than the ears you really have not much else to say they are mix of both culture.

Yeah the 3 npc you can find with these models…thats exactly what i point out. The irony is, that these arathi using the elven models look like…any elves.

What were these visions? If you tell me the angles of war2 or whatever…

No, because it makes no sense.

Then admit its bad.

Not exactly no, you know, the orcs used Stormwind Ruins as a base in war2, which mean the city was not raised, meaning that it was not rebuilt from scratche. Old town was just the least destroyed part.

Well, that still dont mean the rest of the city was not in ruins, you know, even after a bombing a city is still in ruin and thus its easier to rebuild, since the landscape is still ready for it, its not same as getting a city built on brand new land.

You forget by the way a big point, is that, Stormwind and others places rebuilding was supported by the Alliance and you had a lot of humans which came back and helped, lots of man powers.

While for Arathi…its just an expedition, and a lot died…so no way they would build so much so fast, like where did they had the ressources? The money? etc…

Again, its not the same when you are on a known land and REBUILD than going in expedition and build all.

They did not say it for Theramore specifically.

Xal’atath allied herself with a ton of different powers, the cult of shadow is just one tiny part of it, and we are done with Hallowfall.

You mean LOTHAR?!

I dont see these names sounding that elven.

They say they will conquer all of Azeroth lol.

No she dont talk about these things lol, i play a mage and she told me that same exact thing, you just try to fool me here.

Yes, and we have no idea of how powerful and knowlodable they are. You making stuff up.

Yet they use her name to name their city…meaning they care a lot about the human culture, where are the elven related names? 404… which why they are culturally humans, not elves…and you can say they arathi how much you want, they still use human names.

Give more arguement than “its here!!” please.

Visions of the Light* we ask.

This conflates two issues. Villain batting and plot domination of by certain groups.

Human’s getting so much attention is a common “feature” of Fantasy/SF literature. The domination of Alliance in the plot is something Blizzard has chosen to do.

The change either of these doesn’t require humans to be “evil”. Blizzard could change how they do things anytime they want.

Do they need to have the Alliance do evil things? The irony is that the Alliance have committed plenty of atrocities and, again, Blizzard has chosen to have no consequences for them. One could argue that Blizzard will never admit this, so I that to be something new. Though I think they just need to stop hitting the Horde with the villain bat and given them positive development.

If they just stop doing the damaging things they are doing, things will work themselves out in time.

I think the Arathi are clearly meant to be as much High/Blood Elves as human. Blizzard has not done a good job with this. Whether it is because they can’t help themselves, or because Blood Elf lore has been so ignored, is unclear.

Probably both.

I suspect they are also slightly in a bind, as they want their deep dive into High Elven culture to be in Midnight, not by proxy with the Arathi. I expect we will see much more of the Arathi culture fleshed out in Midnight in terms of things they do and don’t do which we learn the elves do in next expansion.

It is as mixed as it can be given how little Blizzard fleshed out any elven culture; their partly elven heritage is still plainly there in more than just models.

They have shorter ears.

You don’t spoil a story immediately, my guy.

I didn’t deny it was bad? I made a point of noting this is always how Blizzard has treated civilisations.

It was completely ruined.

The lore literally says much of Old Town predates the reconstruction of the city, after it was razed. It didn’t have to be rebuilt, unlike the rest of the city.

They found the resources in Hallowfall, they traded with the Earthen, they didn’t need money.

They said it for the entire game, that includes Theramore.

Are we?

Your point?

They are no less elven than names like Gathios, Malande or even Halduron.

After defeating domestic enemies at home, whatever they might be. And they are put down by the Arathi.

This is in response to Anduin’s company, which is the player, and Alleria. If you play any of those races / classes she calls you out. If you don’t, well. She’s speaking of Alleria, the only other person she has seen Anduin hang out with other than us, the player.

We know they have master mages, one of them is even talented enough to teach himself how to cast portals.

Because they are followers of the Light. And she is the founder of the Church of the Holy Light, which the Eternal Flame is an off-shot of.
