Are additional fans necessary

just because you do the former does not mean you understand the latter, and no one said he needed more case fans unless he felt he needed them down the road

what case do you have again? Your front ceiling fans as exhaust will fight your top front intake fans and choke your cpu cooler in that set up.

Depends on the car, but when I was 16 it meant a slow 4cyl. Bigger exhaust pipes changes exhaust velocity and scavenging, which often meant while you maybe gained a few hp at the high end, you lost power at the low end, which most often resulted in overall slower since you often had fewer really long gears in the 90s.

These daysā€¦I drive boring uninteresting cars as Iā€™ve accepted my role as daddy.

way back when I used to work in motorsport broadcasting I used to travel all over your home state (and just about every other state) going to races at Laguna Seca, Long Beach, Ontario, etc., Ive taken a few cars & bikes out on those tracks as well.

For whatever reason when I saw bikes I thought of some kid on his Huffy just getting it.

Once it dawned on me what you meant I was a bit disappointed

Iā€™m too chicken sh*t to ride a bike.

My wife would murder me if I did. Had a buddy that shattered his leg going over the guard rail and my wife worked at the hospital and was one of the first to see. Needless to say that ended my hopes of getting one.

yea, way back when I was ten (although I also rode some dirt bikes back then too)

I sold my bike once I started doing the whole husband & dad thing. I knew a bunch of guys with bad crash stories and many of them are actually the car drivers although plenty of dip$hit riders as well. Iā€™ve always had respect for the bike itself (Iā€™ve done the MSF course and track school) but Iā€™ve also been driven off the road by cars (with the driver staring right at me).

The TDW on the 212 is 150w. 5900X is 105w. A quick google search will give you several pages of results with people suggesting the same thing as you, and then people who actually have the hardware saying that itā€™s fine. If you arenā€™t overclocking, itā€™s fine.

A quick Google search will show users with 5800x having very bad time with thermals even on large AIOs.

Not saying the 212 wonā€™t work at all, but given how Ryzen performance is heavily reliant on thermals, it wonā€™t be ā€œgoodā€.

I would recommend the Scythe Fuma 2 which is way better for only $60, when it comes backin stock.

In lieu of that, the Arctic Freezer 34 esports duo is another good option for low cost and better than the 212.

corsair 1000D. am looking at the box rn just from the pic looks like it comes with 4 front fans though. so basically no fans at the top? just front intake and rear exhaust? i figured since heat rises and the noctua fans will i believe be facing up i would have top exhaust as well but with the front intake and air flow yea idk how that gonna work.

ahh yea i think i see some cars like that today idk much but i see some on the tracks they just have slow launch but once they get going they close the gap very fast. kinda like my van. slow launch off the line but i will gap a mfer easily after XD only car to really impress me so far was a prius. that guy flew past me a damn priusā€¦ last night i raced a charger sounded like a v6 and he was tryna bully other people by tail gating ez clap

Sounds like weā€™ve circled back to the essence of the point made in my first post. Spending $120 on a Noctua cooler is not necessary, and waiting for one is silly.

didnā€™t buy any fan atm yet just was recommended the noctua by 2 users on here weeks ago but idk jack about CPU heatsinks. iā€™ll look into the other 2 recommendations and possibly do some research of my own today/tomorrow.

got until maybe end of this month to at least purchase everything

Youā€™re welcome to your opinion and thatā€™s fine.

Mine is that a 5800x or 5900x will need good cooling for best results, and a Noctua NH-D15 isnā€™t unreasonable and significantly better suited than a Hyper 212 to chips such as these.

You also recommended a cooler that probably isnā€™t good enough for OP. Iā€™d say that was a key piece of ā€œthe essenceā€ of your post.

I recommended a cooler thatā€™s in stock, which has TDW and other specific user benchmark data suggesting it is fine. Iā€™m glad doing so suddenly made more suggestions for the OP available.

This forum serves no purpose of all youā€™re going to do is recommend enthusiast level hardware thatā€™s not even in stockā€¦ that goes for video cards as well.

price really not an option at this point for this build. ive already spent more then i need to from scalpers that is how desperate i am to get it running BUT running in good shape too.

kinda like my coworker and I. bought got used vehicles he just slammed his car made it look nice but didnā€™t bother to fix any major issues with the motor and all that. where as for me i went straight to fixing issues because i know its old already and needs the attention rather then say body work. his car broke down then his daddy/mommy bought him a brand new one where as mine still running funny thing my car still smoke his new car XD.

im open to suggestions but price wise thats down the drain for me at this point. as long as itā€™s not insanely overpriced like the gpu i bought and i can find it somewhere like ebay even then im okay. got plenty time to think it over i just dont want the cpu to overheat again like my last comp especially since i spend a lot of time

ā€¦5800x and 5900x are enthusiast level chips. The 212 isnā€™t sufficient for optimal operation imo.

Deep cool assassin 3 is also a great in stock alternative to the D15 thatā€™s better than the Scythe.

If cost is a huge concern, the corsair a500 might be a consideration.

Itā€™s been slammed by reviewers for noise and cost, but it actually performs okay. With cost out of the way, itā€™s just acoustics that you have to consider.

Itā€™s $45 (more than half off) right now, and is probably fine for a 5800x and is in a completely different league than a 212. And at that price itā€™s just $5 more than the Hyper 212.

Even if you think it sucks, the fans alone are worth at least half the cost.

Review of more recent units:

While early samples of this product did show some concerns and are why we did not have a launch day review of this cooler, Corsair took immediate steps for anyone who reported an issue and sent them new coolers. Our second sample did not have any problems with it when it arrived and is the cooler we are showing you at this time. Even though there were some teething issues, they are over with and should be of no concern to those looking to obtain one today.

Breaking the price down to the basics, we feel that at $50, we would be all over the A500, glowing and raving about how cool it is and what a beast it is. Take that a step further and consider the cost of that massive chunk of aluminum on the top of the tower has to cost a pretty penny, but is that one component alone worth the other $50 of the cost? To us, cosmetics always tend to lose when all other aspects are piled up against it. Had this been the best air cooler with all of that noise and heft, sure! As it site, at $99.99 anywhere you look to buy it, we will still recommend the A500 from Corsair, but also with recommendations to other more affordable options.

EDIT: I gotta stop posting on my phone using Gboard swype typing

I actually just ordered one of these A500s.

Not sure why.
