Are account transfers coming any time soon?

I asked a GM about account transfers and he said “the Development team is considering these transfers in the future as the community as a whole gets to higher levels.” This was 3 weeks ago and now we have server transfers. Where are account transfers? Are they really considering account transfers or am I getting jerked around by blizzard?

What does ‘account transfer’ mean? As I understand it ‘character transfer’ means to transfer a single character from one server (realm) to another.

Accounts are not assigned to a specific server (or region, afaik…) but are global. So, you have an account and you can create any number of characters and (when available) transfer these characters between servers (for a fee).

Are they blocked by the Paid Character Transfer system?

There isn’t some separate function called an Account Transfer. It’s just the ability to select another active account before picking the realm to move to. NOTE: Active is important. If you don’t have game time on the destination account, you can’t even make the transfer in Retail.

EDIT: Looks like this was asked and answered in Customer Support as well. It is a specific limitation to WOW Classic for now.

Yes you can transfer a character to another account that you own.

However, both accounts are still tied to the same Bnet account. So for me I have two accounts. One was for power leveling myself. Now that i’m done, I don’t need to pay two subs. I’ll move the other character to my “main” account.

You can’t now move it to a totally different account to say sell it or something. It’s still linked to the same bnet.

Account transfers are transferring a character from one account that you own to another account that you also own. This service is available in retail and was available in vanilla. With PCT released in classic you would think it would have all the same options/privileges it had in vanilla.

No you can’t, that’s the issue.

This needs to be allowed. We had it in vanilla.
