I was already going to but thanks for the permission, chief
dude I am not stupid and I hate this BULL!@#$, I don’t buy it but it still effects me because even asmongold said it right.
WHALES NEED SMALL FISH to feed on, if there is no small fish the whales leave/die.
right now competitive diablo immortal comes down to who the biggest wallet and normal players are quitting because they die in one shot while a whale solo’s a entire team.
the last thing i want is to to come to wow and other games…
and yes I know wow has some pay to win DRIVEN BY PLAYERBASE but is not needed to be competitive
(see wow classic boost/GDKP’s with botted gold, but it’s not half a million dollars, and they need to stomp this crap out before pugs/guilds are no longer a thing and it’s just a credit card swipe.)
hell even hearthstone has gotten expensive for a mobile game but atleast you drop a hundred dollars for a pre purchase of a expansion cycle and you basically can compete at least / dust/etc… whaling in hearthstone is mostly GOLDEN cards which have no advantage.
Ah yes, a streamer sheep. Classic prey animal.
i don’t give a crap what he says, I believe what I believe, half the things he says are stupid and the other half are great.
my point was the fact people like him even see this and your this guy…
Sure bud
Keep watching that sky! This forum has been telling me it’ll fall down since 2005 but I’m sure it’ll happen any day now.
It sort of reminds me of an old game from Activision, Spyros sky academy or something, they sold action figures that had interchangeable parts.
Those figures had a code or some kind of amiibo like function that could be linked to the game.
In wow world the slang for that is: ‘ionized’
My man, Blizz is a company, Blizz heard about how much money mobile games make from their Activision siblings, they have a famous established IP that could be use for marketing, it stands the reason that the game is made to milk some mobile players of their money since for some unknown reason they seem more inclined to invest a lot of money in such games.
TL;DR - Probably for some kids with irresponsible parents, China mobile market and average Joe that enjoys spending money on stuff.
$$$$$ And really no new effort
The game is catered towards a different crowd of people than your average WoW player. Probably the 14-25 year old crowd who don’t even play WoW.
Mobile games themselves are highly profitable. They’re overtaking PCs and consoles in terms of gaming profits.
Chunks of it have been dropping that entire time…
Their profit line says otherwise, which is what was being discussed. Learn to differentiate between things that make you angry and things that make money.
Sensor Tower estimates that Honor of Kings made $268 million in a month of player spending in May 2022. PUBG Mobile made $206 million. Genshin Impact made $99.7 million, which is actually its second lowest month ever. So double Diablo Immortal’s two-week spending for a monthlong estimate, and it’s still falling outside the range of the big guns. The real question is if Diablo Immortal is rewarding these players enough who have spent money initially to the point where they’ll keep coming back and keep playing. I’ve argued before that return on “investment” for spending in Diablo Immortal is far, far below other games, as evidenced by the streamer who spent upwards of $10,000 without receiving a 5 star gem from the gacha system, but we’ll have to see.
It was always unlikely that Diablo Immortal would totally bomb, and even less so when it became clear the actual gameplay is…really quite fun. But despite this initial haul, it remains to be seen how it does in the long term, and if the fresh damage to Blizzard’s reputation is lasting, and worth the revenue that’s being made regardless.
diablo is a stronger IP and it’s below HOK/GI/PUBG, this clearly is going to damage blizzard in the long run on top of all the other disasters they have had. And the people who were going to spend a lot of money already have, they will get less over time.
now it’s not in the chinese market yet where most of these profits probably would of come from, I am glad china banned them even if it was because of a Winnie the Pooh reference, because this trash monetization should not even be allowed, it’s more gambling then anything else.
No one expected diablo immortal to be free, but no expected they needed 500,000k + USD to be competitive either.
ok
As someone that likes old school Line Defense games from her WC3 custom game days…me because that’s what it looked like to me immediately.
Arclight Rumble is diversification. WoW players don’t want to pay the kind of money that mobile gachas ask, but Blizzard needs to compete with both external studios that can get away with it and other Activision studios that can get away with it. Adding King style monetization to WoW only serve to push Blizzard customers to competing MMO services that offer fairer and more transparent monetization. There is only one possible solution to this conundrum, a separate game. Wouldn’t be surprised if a mobile gacha Starcraft comes down the line too, get every IP working at maximum efficiency.
Can’t say I’m interested in AR either, even as a fan of TDs. Pretty sure it is just another mobile cash grab.
I’m hoping that the new devs they bring on will be working on their new survival game. That being said, the survival genre is kind of oversaturated as is, and competing with the big ones (Valheim and Ark) will be difficult.
Honestly I forgot it even existed until I read your thread
Mobile game players.
I don’t know? I’m not.
