Addons that require any kind of payment are against ToS and should be blocked/banned.

Blizzard doesn’t care they are not going to do anything, this is a player made problem.

i can understand how they may struggle to blacklist a weakaura without impacting the entire legit weakaura ecosystem, but a single standalone addon should surely be an easy snipe for them.

Zygor and Rested XP are still around and always sponsoring youtubers.

My understanding with zygor / rested xp / etc is that the addon itself is free to download with a small amount of trial data (and therefore TOS compliant), but the full content / data is paywalled.
It’s pretty obvious this is against the spirit of the TOS, but as it currently stands this Archon addon is fully against TOS as you cannot access or download the addon at all without subscribing the patreon and DMing the mods for access.

Based some comments from a wclogs admin in their discord, it seems they plan to release this addon FOR FREE ‘after some testing’.
Dumping chat log from today:

Early release for future products is one of the features for alchemical society members. We have other products such as report components in the same situation. Addon is just happened to be one of them. And yes, there will be a free version very soon after some testings.

There is no extra info or comment on what a ‘free version’ would consist of. That language would imply there will be a different paid version, presumably with more features or data (which would still be against TOS)

Yeah, I was about to say that was my bet. Just a beta version for patreon members.

It’ll probably just share information in game so it won’t get up to date info. The paid version will be able to phone home to WCL so it’ll be more accurate and probably have a lot more information exposed as well.

Another way to keep new players away form their toxic playerbase.
If anything it shows horsefart dev team are in on the whole RMT/botting/paid addon scheme.
