I bet if anyone here just went and read the Tos there is likely language saying you agree to some line about information and how they collect/share it.
Lmao though at anyone thinking their damage on Eranikus is protected and economically important enough to be mad about a standard API.
This is what I want to know
Do they mention if the data can be provided to and disseminated by folks like WCL?
And is there anything that protects blizzard from companies like WCL making money using that data?
I am sealioning, but I don’t know the actual details.
They’re not. Let me give you a real life example.
NFL Owners do not own all the business’s around their stadiums and teams, do they? Some of those business’s only customers are residual because of the NFL teams traffic, so why don’t they buy those all up?
Well I’ll tell you why. Unless the business is taking customers away from the sports team, they now have the potential to bring more customer to the sports team. There’s value right there.
But it doesn’t stop! Because this business owner has a financial interest in their business, they are also aware that their business relys on the success of the NFL team around them. While they’re grateful, the NFL team isn’t cooking the food or cleaning the rooms. Those business’s still have to do work. And since the NFL customers are typical consumers, they have other needs, wants, and desires that the NFL isn’t fulfilling right now.
Instead of trying to be all for those customers, they realized that the non competing stakeholders bring value to their customers, directly benefiting all the business’s around as the consumer can stay locally for their current goals.
I am bored with LARPing now.
There is a guy here who has actual facts that might be interesting to me.
Shhhhh
I’ll just assume you play mediocrely.
As much as I love WCL, Blizzard should not adopt that mentality into the game.
They need to make user on their website check a box that allows you to block other people from accessing your WCL information. But again, without consent other players parse you anyways. You should only be able to parse yourself and not the whole group that you are doing the raid with.
No, but my OP here asked for someone who can tell me what the TOS actually says regarding this.
I misread that person’s post though. They were saying the same thing as me.
I know that basics of what the TOS says
Alls I know is that when you move away from the folks who are embarrassed by their parses there is an interesting discussion here.
But we need to be careful with our language.
This is interesting as far as the data itself is concerned. We as users give up our rights to that data. Blizzard says they can use it and their third party partners can if you agree to tos.
That is what is interesting.
Who and what are those agreements…because once money gets involved thjngs become amess. This is why addons don’t charge. They are not Saulk… they are doing it because they have to.
If WCL had a better coaching feature or what can I do better analysis, I think it would be more well received.
If you’re bad at the game, it’s hard for you to look at your own work and see what went wrong. And comparing to other peoples parses isn’t always the easiest considering not all raid environments are built the same.
I think it just weighs down on new/bad players that are trying to figure things out. When I do raid with new groups/people I can guarantee a couple of people will reach out to me asking what they did wrong or can do better. Those people aren’t trying to parse 99 either, they’re just trying to figure out the full power of their class at those points. And logs has a lot of information going on, it’s hard to figure out what a good starting point is.
You folks are so stuck on the word parse. This is actually interesting and you are trivializing it.
WCL is using our data, which blizzard controls for us, for profit.
I understand our rights here. We have very little unless there is negligence etc….
Just a warning…if you troll me, I will troll you in response.
Like Joe Friday.
Just the facts.
What vendor is utilizing my starfire crit information?
Pretty sure WCL has an option to hide your toon as well.
Also, what about actual screen recording/streaming? Should Blizzard sue Youtube?
I don’t know.
Is there one?
I am saying that I can tell exactly what you are doing and when you are doing it. This is useful information in the right person’s hands
You lack imagination and that is fine, but you don’t have to let us all know how unimaginative you are….
Like they say “it is better to be thought and idiot than to open your mouth and remove the doubt”
Sorry, Lincoln. Probably mucked that one up
What about all the video recording/capturing services?
Suggestion for OP.
List a raid, take the first available to sign up, and see how it goes.
You’ll find out why people are picky for pugs.

Remember my OP.
I really don’t want to recap, and Once I begin the sequence of combat it can only end with your demise
It is my full intent to treat Archon users the same way i do Gearscore users.
The moment you mention it, you get ignored. Permanently. No explanation, no second chance. Bye Felicia.
The people using it are the exact type i want nowhere near me.
When a streamer post a PvP montage did they get everyone’s consent to post that video?
Did the platform they host it on receive any compensation from advertisers attaching themselves to that data and content?
That is your data
You gave it to blizzard
WCL is stealing it and selling it for $25
You really want to go this way with me?
Trolling…
Me…?
Happens with all kinds of my data daily. In this instance, it affords me the ability to instantly filter out the people who utilize this addon from ever being able to interact with me on any level.
Yes, it does.
But do you bend over and take it up the tailpipe
And why are we talking about you and your parses again
This is blizzard’s property. It is proprietary and a shareholder asset.
Blizzard is required by Dodd Frank to protect these assets and disclose how they protect them.
They are allowing WCL to sell and disseminate this data
