If/when they release a free version it will almost certainly not have the same access as the paid version.
I looked into it for like less than 10min and got the same understanding after asking you. I don’t care about WCL or parsing, but some of these replies are just unhinged.
Costs money to test things, no issue here. Doubt they would risk it if the final wasn’t going to be free.
There is going to just be the free version when released. I know you can just say things but that wont make them facts.

Sadly some of my favorite specs are none meta but you are pretty much forced to play meta specs and classes never forget fire=haste buff… wows community is one of the most toxic community I have been a part of and it’s just getting worse.

Part of what you’re paying for is the API calls it makes to WCL so ongoing expense, not just the dev time they put into building the thing.
Sure. Which is why the testing is for their subscribers and the finished product will be free.
I can go grab the link to access and use API info and calls right now on the Battle.net site, the data is already aggregated by blizzard before WCL even gets it.
And they limit how many API calls you can make depending how how much you are paying, this is something they already do not some vague prediction about the future. I’m sure part of what they’re testing is getting that as efficient as possible.
Unless they decide to give everyone unlimited calls.
lol i can’t believe this is 200 pages of TOS/legal/informational bantering over why an addon should or shouldn’t exist. It’s as bad as people saying “The old rank 14 grind shouldn’t exist because it isn’t healthy”. What a crock. Bottom line is people are just arguing about random stuff because they don’t like something.
Parses and Logs are one thing. I think its bad for the game. Want to keep track of something? Keep track of mechanics done. Keep track of combat logs. Don’t put a number with a color on the front page. Look, our first shade kill we had 2 dps parse 33, and everyone else parsed 10 and below. We had everyone focus down adds all the time until 10% or whatever. If you’re PuG can’t clear, it’s because they don’t know the fight or can’t do mechanics. It has 0 to do with dps.
Archon is super toxic. Why? It’s humiliating. At least before, a person needed to go out of their way to look up someone’s logs which is bad enough. Now, let’s say you’re a casual player, now you know wherever you go, people are going to judge you just by a tooltip. Is that any incentive for someone to play? Let’s say you know you’re not a great player and because of that you play in a guild. But now, the fact that you’re not a great player is out there for everyone to see.
The health of the game depends on the sweatier players and the casuals a like. Just because some people are part of the “good parsing” group, doesn’t make an addon like Archon ok. It’s freaking terrible for the community.

You can’t give away your assets like Roxanne when she puts on her red light. It is obvious that the leadership at blizzard is complicit in this. They turn there decadent eyes while neglecting their responsibilities to Microsoft’s shareholders.
Blizzard’s time of complacency is over. It is time for Microsoft to go to war with these third party pirates who are pillaging our coffers.

We’re in what week 6 at this point? I’d rather not run with someone who has no clue what to do in the raid. I run with guilds mostly but even when I ran pugs I didnt care about the parse just that they know what to do. Like if people care about parses they wouldn’t be running pugs to begin with

This data is the property of Microsoft’s shareholders. It is an asset that was recorded as “goodwill” during the merger.
Management at Blizzard is allowing these pirates to steal this data and sell it for $25 subscriptions and advertising revenue.
It is the duty of management to protect these assets like stated in Dodd Frank.
Not only are they violating TOS by profiteering in this way, Blizzard is neglecting their fiduciary responsibility to Microsoft’s shareholders.
Most of us have 401k or some type of IRA…. It most likely uses Microsoft to stabilize your portfolios beta value.
Blizzard needs to maximal their profits! They are leaving money on the table.
