Nice, our thread survived the forum migration! The cries for Arakkoa cannot be silenced!
Checking in and squaking! I’ll be tracking this thread too. Raaawk!
It’s going straight in my bookmarks as well!
I do like being able to better track the megathreads without having five instances of the forums up on my phone.
A new forum dawn for the dawnseeker arakkoa
Gonna bring this back up for potential Arakkoa and ogre discussion ^^
Feedback is important, so those that want arakkoa, now is the time to talk. They can use animations from the Zandalari chicken form.
one step closer to the full thing with the moonkin sleep animation
Hell yeah!
Nope , no ogres, can’t have anymore fat humanoids, hell, just look at all the kul Tiran hate.
what can I say? Arakkoas are part of my wish list!
I would love to see this breed being used by the players !!!
If we have orcs maghar as new members of the Horde, can we also have, perhaps, Arakkoas flying through the skies of Azeroth?
yass, flying with the guards in the capital and maybe have some small roosts in various nooks
I’d support ogres, but I also support KTs and pandaren so
That’s the thing I dread about ogres, though. All the whining that would ensue. “They’re fat!!!” like yeah they’re ogres you titwhack
imo it’d be a huge injustice to arakkoa to combine both types into one race
I don’t remember enough about the WoD arakkoa to know if the high and low arakkoa are friendly with eachother again, but what could be done is give high to one faction and low to the other, give them similar racials but appropriately themed light and shadow versions of eachother. A pseudo neutral race if you will.
they’re frens now in the order of the awakened!
birbs of a feather
Exact! after the elimination of the High Sage Viryx, and the revelation of the truth behind the structure of Skyreach society, they began to take the differences aside and work together!
We can see a mixed group of arakkoas outcasts and ‘high’ arakkoas in Ashlam, trading apex crystals!
Food for thought: The Zanda boomkin uses the High Arakkoa rig, yet has a brand new sleep animation not found on the original rig. Perhaps our birdy bois could be updated with this new addition.
Sorry all, I haven’t been active on the forums as I don’t care for the new format.
I just want reiterate that Blizzard just sitting on this would be a missed opportunity. The numbers of multiplayer games that have allowed the player-base to be of an avian nature can be counted on one hand. Playable birdfolk as a whole in digital gaming doesn’t expand much further beyond the small MP circle.
Spires of Arak had an incredible main story in an otherwise lackluster expansion. It gave us a chance to get an more intimate exposure to the Arakkoa, who were just an accessory in BC. For many of us who already were simply interested, we’ve been smitten and have a strong affinity for the birdmen of Draenor now. They are unique in ways, but have the necessary familiarity where it is needed.
One of the big things, I think, is the Arakkoa aren’t just another token Tolkenesque race. GW2 has also sat on their Tengu, which have a level of interest in them over in that circle. D&D Kenkus are rather well loved among the circles I inquire with. People love and adore birds, find peace in their songs and antics, they dream and covet flight.
WoW, like all games, should about fulfilling that bit of escapism, being able to embrace fantasy. Having the opportunity to forget the real world for a couple hours here and there, and just enjoy ourselves.
Help us make our dreams take wing.
This is my primary reason for wanting them playable. Currently all of the playable races are mammals. I want something reptilian or avian next!
I agree, there’s so much untapped potential in new race designs. Avian, Aquatic, Reptilian all the way to Elemental or Mechanical races. Arakkoa are a great example of the potential currently untapped. Make them playable Blizz, and surpass your creative limits!
If the devs are bold enough to add arakkoas, the players will respond positively!
They were very interesting to players in WOD, and can be added to the game, just as the orc maghar were!
Certainly, yrell’s inquisitors would want them to abandon their faith in Rukhmar and Anzu!
Something they would never do, since both of them are their patron gods!
With a relentless pursuit of the Lightbounds, they might consider fleeing from Draenor to where they can live free from their tormentors!
Azeroth could be a good choice!
I think even some saberons fled to Azeroth (I remember that someone mentioned that they took advantage of the confusion and went through the portal with the orcs) , following the maghar.
Would it be difficult for arakkoas to do the same thing, and arrive at Azeroth ?
I think not!
