literally who cares its genuinely more laughable to me that people are complaining about this
theres a toy that turns all friendly humanoids into corgis
if they made an engineering gadget that did this exact effect called something like wumbo’s lobsterfier 9001 no one would say a single thing about it
everyone who’s making threads and complaining about this are the exact same people who lost their mind over body type 1&2, it literally does not affect your game at all and has 0 impact on anything whatsoever youre just complaining to complain because you’re a strung up maga boomoid

To be fair, this is not an accessibility option. Accessibility options are those things that directly impair individuals from playing the game due to physical issues like color blindness.
This is a psychological option, which I put in a completely different category.
Semantics I guess.
Interesting link, it’s far too much to read for me, over 500 pages…can you cite where in that that explains the the source I was curious about? I’m not judging, I’m seriously interested, but I don’t have the attention span to read through all of that.
Disabilities can be psychological in nature.

I just don’t understand why they went with crabs. I guess it’s so they wouldn’t have to change the skeleton much, but that also seems like it defeats the purpose. Crabs are just flat armored spiders with claws.
Most arachnophobes I’ve ever known have cited the number of limbs and how the animal moves as what really triggers them, and in that case a crab is hardly a step removed from a spider.

Some of yall: They need therapy not a filter!
Funny you say that. A therapist or psychologist is bound to say “Oh if there are filters available. Go for it.” in response to that.
Therapy cannot completely cure a phobia. People that respond to exposure therapy even don’t get a complete cure. They just get coping methods depending on how strong the symptoms are.
I dunno I just found that funny reading some of these silly comments

While I get the logic of this question. You’re expecting Phobias to follow any semblance of rules.
Sometimes all it takes is one minor experience with something when you’re young and BAM. You get stupid phobias like mine for example
I am afraid of vacuums. Only explanation really is I must have been very small and scared of the noise. So it stuck with me. Or I just had an irrational fear that the vacuum would suck up / break my feet. I can laugh about it now as an adult. And can cope with it.
Not everyone with phobias is gonna get that.
If I recaaaaaaaaall sometimes phobias are genetic but don’t quote me on that.
Googled so I’m gonna edit Hot dang its about 50 percent hereditary. Neat.

Wait so this doesn’t affect you at all, yet you made a wall of text to complain about it being there for those who do have arachnophobia? I have it. The spiders in general I’m ok with if I zoom out all the way. But the spider mounts scare me so much I have to exit the game if I see one. Why is this so upsetting for you?
And when I say I can’t use dragon flying, they tell me to “git gud”. This threat is so petty.

Dude, like, who cares? Yes, they’ve set a precedent that they are willing to add options to the game for people with certain phobias and now for the rest of the game’s existence they can deal with memes about options for people with sciurophobia. That’s a Blizz issue. Doesn’t effect me.

When that mod was new, it was funny a f. You see a large group of bears descend from the cave top. Bears hatching from chicken eggs.

I have no real issue with the arachnophobia mode, but every time a game adds one it makes me wonder why arachnophobia is the only phobia that gets this special treatment.

Solid question, especially since fear of snakes (forgot the phobia name) is almost as common.
Yeah, I dont have either phobia, but theres been times when I’ve just seen a standard battle pet sized snake wandering around in WoW and been kinda startled. I assume people with the actual phobia have it far worse. Wheres their filter?

I’m not trying to start anything, but the realistic solution to your problem is Therapy. Filter’s are actually the same as avoidance and further reinforce your fear, giving it more and more power over your life. That’s a psychological fact and the reason why therapy exists, because we as humans can’t control irrational fears that we develop without proper guidance.
What is it, that people are afraid of with spiders?
I understand dogs, I understand snakes to some degree (Anaconda), but a spider? They can not harm you, unless you are in Amazonas or Australia and one of those super rare and tiny things get to close.
But even the bigger spiders, just leave a red mark on your skin if they bite, which they rarely do. The usual house spiders you may swallow at night, so you are a bigger threat to them than they are to you.
Where does the fear come from, that spiders can do harm to people?
